I believe it is a PEONY plant. You should trim it back to about 2". They usually bloom around mid to end of May...and staking it was a good idea; they grow tall and tend to flop over because the blooms are large & heavy.
That is a dead plant. Torched, Turned to Ashes, Zapped. All done by the "Flash Bulb" on your camera. You need to reread the How to Guide! Your Brownie Box "cooked" that plant.
