We beat these guys so bad on a Sunday afternoon that they had 9 Ambulances backed up on B street near Olney Ave transporting guys to Einstein Hospital! John Little, Nose Guard, St Theresa 1959
I got so many stories about that team that year...time does not allow, ha,ha...let's just say that I ended up at Einstein hospital with Mary&Jack...got my first stitches (5 of 'em)...Roy Kelley broke his leg, Ricky Walker was knocked out...Bill Tippy caught me runnin' behind the bench with a blanket tied to my shoulder pads, yellow..."Zorro!", ha,ha...grabbed and said "I'd like to clock you, McKendry!"...I asked Dad what that meant, he said "you're benched!"...they cancelled the season after that game!...what a great team it was! Joe Latrish, Beaver Shandley, Johnnie Manes, Bernie B., Tommy Desidario, George Brown, Franny, Slimmy Boyle...where did you find this photo Pea? Been lookin' for it for 53yrs! READY,SET...HIKE!
Gerry is not in the photo. Gerry played football for one season in grade school, 7th grade, and hated the sport. The coaches were psychos. The practices were idiotic. And the games were no fun. Especially when the only position you got to play was center!
How about if we have a major sporting event without Referees, Umpires, Judges or Stewards? I Love that a 65 to one shot did ...
