Origin of the Mink Stole: Mother & Dad arrived for their first "Parents Weekend" or was it Graduation? at St. Francis College in beautiful remote Loretto PA. They arrived and Dad drove his white Buick right to the front of Doyle Hall(practice gym). Friend comes in and yells, "Yo, Jack, your parents are outside!" I quickly go out with friends in tow.......
Dad says "hi, how y doin'....wait til you see what I got your Mother". Goes to the trunk and with 3/4 guys standing there watching, Jack opens the trunk, opens a large white box and holds it in the air smiling proudly. "Whatdiyathink about that?" Jeezzz, (as a college kid who'd kill for a fiver$$ anytime), I was soooo impressed. And, of course, embarrassed enough to want to crawl back into Doyle or jump in Lake Loretto. It was clear Mother was equally embarrassed as she got out of the car, "oh Jack put that back in the car". He was so proud......and broke, but wanted her to look just as affluent as everyone else.
