Mary from Kensington wants to know...

Checking my e-mail the other day I received a question from "Mary from Kensington" she asked, "I gotta ax ya sumtin, any of yiz know what Shackamaxon means? I just got it tattooed on my neck and I thought I oughta know." Funny you should ask, while reading the Pulitzer award winning Port Richmond Star I came across an article on that very subject. According to the column it comes from the Lenni Lenape tribe and means either " at the place of eels" or "at the meeting place of kings". Since it's where the Lenape made the truce with William Penn and since you're permanently saddled with that ridiculous tattoo; I'd go with the "kings" thing. Thank goodness you didn't opt for Passyunk or Schuylkill, nobody knows what they mean.

Does Patty Pat still write for the PR Star? She is golden, just reference her vanity license plate. Kate and I used to have a few good laughs while reading that. The best ones are the ones that say "contragulations on your GED son, we are so proud of you!" hahaha....
