My scariest Trick or Treat ever...

I was 9 and lived on D Street. It was late. At least 7:45PM. Michael had disappeared about an hour earlier...chasing a girl named Mary. Alyce was at Kalstein's trying to barter some more candy in the event more kids showed up. Mother was bullshitting the kids at the door into thinking that prunes were candy. John was 12 and had always Hated Halloween so he was not to be found. Timmy was 5 and I think he took the "R" bus to Maureen's. Eddie was in his crib practicing his guitar riffs...Dad was...Cop-ing.

I decided to head for Boudinot Street for one last Haul. "Trick or Treat" I said and I got jumped! Had my candy stolen (not much cause I had already made 2 drop-offs at home) which makes me wonder why Alyce was negotiating with Kalstein? Was Mother giving away our candy while Alyce was at Kalstein's?

I knew the kid who lived in the house that jumped me (he & his buddies were older)...early AM a few days later I went back and let the air out of his 4 tires. Never got the satisfaction of seeing his reaction...by the way...I was dressed as a Bum with playing cards pinned to my clothes...the costume was NOT bought at Target.

Oh yea...and this year?

Jason in LA... what's he doing?

Is Jason really working for the Lakers or is he pursuing a new country singing career?  I thought this guy looked like him.  You agree?

This time next week we could be experiencing a Hurricane & a Nor'easter like they had in that George Clooney movie, The Perfect Storm...

So make sure you get your boats out of the water

October 23, 2012
It has been one month since we gathered for our lovely sister’s lunch, somewhere between Mechanicsburg and Allentown. I was thinking this morning, as I drove in to work (remember when you had jobs?), that there was a discussion among the women that they wanted to get together on a regular basis. I’m not sure if the men were going to be invited to those gatherings but I know that we can be a pretty interesting bunch so, I had a thought.

I would like to propose an idea where we get together on some kind of regular schedule (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly) and at each session one person (or couple) is responsible for giving an informative presentation on the topic of their choice. Here are a few details:

·         We put together a schedule (bi-monthly) where each of us hosts the gathering.

·         A simple, informal meal of some kind is shared

·         Beverages are shared and conversation is had

·        At each session one person (or a couple) is assigned to make a presentation on a topic of his/her/their choosing. The subject is completely up to the presenter. It can be on “anything” but the presentation must be at least 20 minutes long. Following the presentation, we can have a discussion on the subject or go back to the food and drink.

·          What would you want to talk about?

o   A silk-screening demonstration

o   The zone press – does anyone use it anymore?

o   The thrill of coaching girls basketball

o   The history of SEPTA

o   A book/movie review

o   My years as a Philadelphia police officer

o   A vacation/trip?

o   … any subject is a good subject

·         As I get older, my quest for knowledge is growing. Who better to inform me than my siblings and family?  I ask for your support on this idea (it is political season).

·         We’ll need a name for these sessions…
Thoughts?
