and we went to the official office & changed his name to

when all I wanted the White sisters to do was Pose in front of The Christmas Tree...

An Army story

This is a photo of Stan Taylor. He was my best friend while I was a Soldier.

We spent time together at Fort Bragg, N.C. We then went on to Fort Lee Va. After that we spent about 9 months together in Fort Carson, in Colorado. Stan was the one that got me transportation to the Medics when I broke my ankle in a Touch football game...

Stan & I then got shipped to Viet Nam. We even got to work together. Delivering food to various & sundry places.

One Month into our Viet Nam deployment Stan was told that he could not hang with me because he was black & I was white.

Stan was scared for his life, so we did not mix.

1968 was a tumultuous time.

Stan knew I could play some ball. So he arranged for a 1 on 1 basketball tournament on the dirt court outside our Barracks.

Stan told me that about 25 people signed up...he told me there are only 4 white guys.

The "tournament" went on for 4 nights...as Stan predicted...I won!

Stan was a slick guy...he gave me about $800.00 which enabled me to buy Timmy's Seiko graduation watch, Dad's pinky ring, my reel to reel tape player, my Speakers, Receiver & Pioneer turn table!

To this day I wonder how much Stan pocketed?

Has anyone heard from John?

Earlier in the week I posted that John texted Timmy that he had fallen while framing the roof of an outhouse. Went to the Emergency Room & was really hurting. Timmy got John on the phone yesterday but John was incoherent. Timmy could not get an answer as to what John hurt.

I have called him several times, left a message & have gotten no reply.

In case you are wondering about the outhouse thing, I've posted a photo. Apparently, affluent suburbanites buy these things as decorative pieces for their backyards & John was in the process of making one.

Go figure...

UPS and a 4 year old boy...

this is so aggravating because I just know that the birds sent the squirrel to my back door!

The test I am doing is trying to determine why The Blog will not allow me to Post photos that a person can just click through...Tech stuff is so annoying!

"Last we'd night I fell in shop framing roof on outhouse......lotsA pain....went to ER for cat scan crags & blood tests....hard breathing & moving.... Laying in bed....follow up yesterday....told me just rest ...

Could take month or more...jesso u no."

Timmy got him on the phone & was told by John that he is really hurting.

Timmy asked "what did you hurt?"

John said something about "tissue damage"

I tried calling John...no answer...

so what does tissue damage mean? And why would it take a month or more to recover from tissue damage?

Also, why would he be framing a roof for an outhouse?

Army just lost to Navy for the 13th straight year!

 Now, I spent some time in the Army, 3 years, so I am naturally cheering for Army. My daughter-in-laws father actually played for Army! Now I find out that the Father of Courtney (#my other daughter-in-law) was in the Navy! The rivalry has been going on since the year 1890:

• They have played 116 times
• Navy leads the series with 60 wins-49 losses & 7 ties

The thing that really gets my goat (which is Navy's mascot) is that Army has lost the game for the past Thirteen (13) years!

This is Insane!

I remember the game at Franklin Field when Dad was working traffic & got John & me in through a side door! I remember when Dad got me a job selling Pop-corn at the Vet & that damn woman from Texas gave me the popcorn back because I scooped the corn with my bare hands! Hey! It was before Plastic...what else should I have done? I think her name was Lady Bird or whatever.

Anyway, if I was the person in power in the USMA I would be embarrassed by the performance of the Football Program vs Navy over the past 13 years!

Jim Salisbury (who interviewed Jason for the Ambler Gazette) has said the Phillies traded Jimmy Rollins!

What he didn't know is that the Dodgers got Rollins & Hamels...the Angels got Clayton Kershaw & the Phillies are gonna get Mike Trout.

Now that would have been a good trade!
