I'm thinking of getting a Cat! And, a Tale of Judith Ann/Coco and The Kitten...

Judy Ann Loved going out on a Saturday Night. Would start preparing about 3:00PM for an 8:00 PM Invite. Bath, Budweiser, Outfit try ons' & Makeup & different Hair Settings...

One such night we walked out our door & JA heard something before she got in the Jeep. Of course, Me being Me, she didn't ask "did you hear that?" She just walked over to the Tall grass & told me, "there's a kitten in there". I walked over & sure enough...there was a kitten in there! She told me to pick it up & take it inside...I did. It was not as big as my hand.

In Full Makeup and Outfit (& another Bud) JA went into action!

  • WE were not going out!  We gave milk & cereal to the kitten. Coco was wonderful with the Ball of Fur (we had no cage & they both got along for 5 days while we were working) Finally,  JA took the Kitten in a shopping bag on SEPTA to give it to a young woman in her office!
I bring this up cause the young woman e-mailed me today to tell me she did not know that JA had passed and that "Henry" (the kitten) was still alive. She sent her condolences & her appreciation for JA's generosity and...

I had Two Jobs today!

Drove two different parties to the Phila Airport today...

  • If you know anyone in the Roxborough/Manayunk area that needs a ride to "ANYWHERE" tell them to Contact me!
Cell phone # 215-868-1522
  • I think I may need to learn to Text!

I think this is Funny & Cute...

According to CNN, on Friday in a speech to members of the auto industry, Obama quipped:
"It's only a matter of time until Malia gets her learner's permit. So I'm hoping to see one of those models that gets a top speed of 15 miles an hour. The ejector seat any time boys are in the car. So, hopefully you guys have some of those in the pipeline."

I went "On-line" to try to find a photo of Dutch, The Baseball Coach...I found nothing.

My search led me to try to find a Photo on-line of anyone in our Family. I went through a whole bunch of Family members...and this is the only Photo I found "on-line" ! (although there were many photos of ESPN's  Chris McKendry & good for her)...

  • How do you get your Photo on-line? Not that one would want to...
And, secondly, anyone have a photo of Dutch as a Baseball Coach?

Friday, July 29, 2011

Let's ask Coach Dutch about Bunting...In my opinion, there are two kinds of Bunts...

                                                       DUTCH ?
  1. The Obvious Bunt to advance the Runner...AND...
  2. The Surprise Bunt: a drag bunt or a squeeze bunt, for example.
In both cases I believe the Bunter should not Present Himself as a Bunter! What is the Advantage of a Bunter assuming the Bunter Position when the Pitcher has not even started his "wind-up"?
  • Coach Dutch...can you give us the thinking here ?

So, my #1 Son sends an e-mail to my #2 Son about Hunter Pence...And Twitter!

...next thing I know I am reading analysis of the "Downside & Upside" of such a move.
...next I am watching MSNBC & the "Dreaded FOX News Channel" regarding the Vote in The House of Rep's re:the Budget Battle
next...I get a call from #2 Son asking if I just got a "TWEET" re: the Eagles signing a CB from the Raiders!
next...I am debating #2 about what to do w/Asante? (I have to at least try to keep up w/ this stuff & I do like to read)
next...I am getting Blasted for watching Politics on a Friday Night in the Summer while so much important stuff is going on in the World of Sports!
And Finally! I am told I need to get a TWITTER Account....

I was just perusing the internet, minding my own Bizness when I came across people commenting on one of Sams' Children Books

Made me Happy...Evidently, it  is still available in book stores throughout the USA. Just type in "A Little Whale Tale" and see what choices you get...

I will be playing 1st Base...

Do you think you can make a throw, on the fly, from Deep 3rd Base?

She will be missed...and I guess this is rather Dramatic...but I keep looking for her...

  • She was a wonderful Pal, Pet, Protector & Para-medic. Just 4 Months short of her 17th Birthday...
I also want to thank Uncle John for his Help today...Coco loved him

So Sad...but! With Coco passing I will be able to play the Guitar again...

Judy Ann would love it when I sat at the kitchen table and played cords, not Songs, CORDS... (she actually thought I was Good!). Coco left the room when I played (she had a better Ear). Now I can play my TAYLOR GUITAR (which Eddie gave me) without an audience or critics.

  • A Sad Day
I miss both The Girls...

Fess Up! Who got (has) the "D" Street Piano?

I ask because ... well, I won't say...

If you have anything "Chinese" in your house wrap it in Bubble Wrap!

A collection of Chinese cups carved from rhinoceros horns has become the most valuable find in the 16-year history of the television program "Antiques Roadshow" in the United States.
The five cups, believed to date from the late 17th or early 18th century were valued at $1-$1.5 million on Saturday after being brought to the TV show at a stop in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The owner, who prefers to remain unidentified, told Asian arts expert Lark Mason he started collecting cups inexpensively in the 1970s and had no idea of the collection's current value.
Chinese antiques have been fetching strong prices in recent years, dramatically increasing the value of the collection.
"As we continue our 16th season production tour here in Tulsa, we couldn't be more excited about such an extraordinary, rare treasure, and we look forward to sharing it with the nation," executive producer Marsha Bemko said in a statement on Monday.
Three episodes produced from the Tulsa event will air on the program, which is broadcast on PBS, sometime in 2012.
The second highest-value U.S. appraisal recorded by "Antiques Roadshow" was of a collection of Chinese carved jade bowls, estimated to be worth as much as $1.07 million. They were discovered in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2009.
"Antiques Roadshow" started as a TV series in Britain in 1979 and has several international versions.

I'M BACK!

The APPLE & Phone have been down for a few days...hope you missed me! The Cable Guy had to climb the pole outside to correct the problem. Made me think it is a young mans' world. No way I would climb that ladder! In other News...

  • Coco is still alive!
  • It was Hot & I am taking Donations for my next month PECO Bill!
  • Michael was over yesterday and treated lunch.
  • John was here today & he doesn't understand why Michael Martinez cannot lay down a Bunt.
Jason called & told me I either have to re-Focus on the Blog or Blow It Up!!! Says I have been too neglectful...

I think this stuff is neat...

Before most Phillies games I do my "research" on the opponents starting pitchers. I know, it's sort of a "dorky" think to do but I'm into it... Ever since Al Gore invented the internet, information is so easy to gather. Thanks Al, this one's to you... Anyway, I figured I would share my results on Friday's opponent, Cory Luebke.

On Friday night the Phillies play against the San Diego Padres. In case you haven't noticed, here in Philly, we are going through a little bit of a HEAT WAVE. The temperature is supposed to be above 100 degrees for Fridays game against the Padres.

Cole Hamels faces off against rookie Cory Luebke. It's neat to know this stuff so I thought I would share.

Cory Robert Luebke: (born March 4, 1985 in Maria Stein, Ohio) is a professional baseball player for the San Diego Padres. He attended the Marion Local High School and The Ohio State University. He was pick number 63 in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft.

In 2008 (While Cole Hamels was winning a World Series MVP) Luebke started the season with the Class-A Advanced Lake Elsinore Storm, but was later sent down to the Class-A Fort Wayne Wizards. Luebke went a combined 6-9 with 100 strikeouts with a 5.12 ERA in 1281⁄3 innings pitched.

He split the 2009 season with the Class-A Advanced Lake Elsinore Storm and the Double-A San Antonio Missions. Luebke pitched for Team USA in the 2009 Baseball World Cup.[3] He threw a near perfect game against Team Canada.[4] He started the championship game, striking out seven and pitching 41⁄3 innings.[5][6]

On Sunday, July 11, 2010; Luebke was promoted to the Triple-A Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League. He was promoted to the Padres on September 1, 2010 and made his first major league start on September 3, where he got his first loss, pitching 5 innings and giving up four runs. He earned his first career win in his next start, throwing 6 innings and only giving up 2 hits and 1 walk.

In June 2011, Luebke was promoted to the Padres starting rotation. NOW he is facing Cole Hamels and the Philadelphia Phillies. How long will he last? Will he throw a gem? Will the heat get to him? Interesting stuff, remember what you read while you are watching Friday's game.

$127,929,379

No Real Point to the Post but...

The Philadelphia Phillies have a payroll of: $172,976,379 - MLB Best 60 Wins
The Pittsburgh Pirates have a payroll of: $45,047,000 - Leading the Central with 51 Wins

The Philadelphia Phillies are paying $127,929,379 more for their team than the Pittsburgh Pirates and have ONLY NINE more wins!

If the season ended today, the Phillies would be playing the Pirates in a Best of Five series. The Pirates have already defeated the Phillies 2 out of 3 games. Could the impossible happen? Can't wait for October...

The Blog, The Apple & Scanning...

I have, for HOURS! tried to Post a photo that I think is neat. I successfully Scanned it but I cannot get it to The Blog. If you are over 39 and a half years old & do not own an I-pod, I-phone, I-pad, I-Do, I-want or an I-can...do not Buy an I-Mac!!!

My Dell was so much easier...at least it came with an Instructional Manual...

U2 360 Tour - Tonight at the Linc!

So I am heading down to the Linc tonight to check out the U2 360 Tour. I went to their concert back in 2006 and I have to say, it was awesome. It was almost as good as the "McKendry Brothers Live at the Bent Elbo" back in '06 (maybe '05), but it was good.

Taking a shower & a Bar of Soap...A Trip Tip from the Blog...

I am not familiar with "Body Wash". When I am visiting young people I need to remember to bring my own Bar of Soap!

  • I was in Sam & Kelly's shower when I realized all they had were plastic containers!
  • Since I was IN the Shower with no glasses I could not read what the Plastic Containers contained
There was No Bar of Soap!
  • I don't know what I showered with...Shampoo? Body Wash? Cleanser? Defoilerator? Moisturizer? Tub Cleaner?
Next time I will bring my own Bar of Soap!

This Photo takes some Imagination to understand...

It was designed by Jason for Tee Shirts for the "Third Annual Ludwig Dollar Dog Softball Classic". The scheme is a layout of Ludwig's beard that can be raised to the chin of the Tee Shirt wearer to make the wearer look like "Lud"... that would be Joe Ludwig.

  • Apparently, the printings on the lengthy beard are "nick-names" that Lud is known by...
As a side note, The Cooker will NOT be playing in this years' Ludwig Classic. The Cooker played in the first two Years and went  "OWE fer NINE"  and broke a finger in the process...the cooker is well done with hitting liners to "all fields"......

Did I mention that while in SOCAL I went to the Tommy Bahama Store?

I needed long pants for a Saturday night Function since I had left my long pants & Belt  in the back-seat of a 1998 Infiniti, which was in the Town of Palm Desert, California.

  • On Saturday afternoon Sam took me to a Tommy Bahama store where "WE" purchased pants & a Belt for Dad!
I was freaked out at the Prices but Sam said it was a Father's Day Gift! They also had wonderful hats that the Sales Lady suggested I try on. Since I was sweating so profusely I told her NO.
  • What a cool store. And what a great Son! I think the pants are "linen"...
I mention this because I had never heard of Tommy Bahama before and Sarge & Tom McCarthy were just showing a Photo of Sarge & the Bullpen Coach wearing "Tommy Bahama" outfits!

After watching these two, we Knew we could handle a Boat Launch! If we just had a Boat...if you click on the Photo the ...whatever...

I was near the Oreland 4th of July Parade... I was in the neighborhood...

I thought the Parade started at 9AM. It didn't...it started at 10 AM. So, I sat in Mary & Michael's front lawn for 2 and 1/2 Hours waiting for their return. Howsomever, I did see 22 Corvettes pass by on Drayton Road, along with at least 14 Fire Engines, Four EMT vehicles, 12 Decorated Bike Riders, about 12 "Cheesecakes" and a Partridge in a Pear Tree!... It was not a Bad "sit-down"...

  • Anybody want to chip in for a Corvette for next year's Parade?
I Favor the Newer Vet's...1998 & forward. I also have a preference for Yellow or Red!

Almost every day I pass the Saul School on Henry Avenue

It is a Farm School, so they have cows, sheep, and horses there. I called Eddie today & asked why do the horses have bags over their head? Because of flies, he said. Do sheep and cows not get buzzed by flies?

  • I am just really Glad I didn't grow up on a Farm !

The World is now a Better Place...

Grace Kelly's son has married a Grace look-a-like. She is 33, he is 52. The 7600 citizens of Monaco are now expecting wonderful times ahead...of course, reports have said that the new Princess was nabbed at the local airport trying to board a plane back to her native Spain...we will see how long this Marriage lasts...

  • I bring this Topic up because I watched the William & Kate Royal Wedding & I thought they really like each other...
PS...I especially liked watching Pippa walking down the aisle in the William & Kate Wedding...

I don't know much about the Flyers but Courtney tells me this action is getting Silly!

Within a matter of hours, free-agent forwards Jaromir Jagr and Maxime Talbot signed deals with the Atlantic Division champions. Jagr, 39, a 1990 first-round pick of the Penguins, snared a one-year deal worth $3.3 million, and Talbot, 27, who scored a game-winning Stanley Cup goal for the Penguins, signed a five-year deal worth $9 million.

Other than my Bro Timothy, who puts ketchup on a Hot Dog?

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!!

  • and remember...do not have a 5th on the 3rd, it could ruin your 4th!!!
