Well if you watch TV, Memorial Day is for car sales, furniture sales, beach openings etc. I was taught long ago that it is to remember all those who died in the service of our country and personally I always think of all who served our country.

I agree with Slim. I think of ALL those who served our country. Thank God for brave men & women! ...and Thank God for GP! Thanks for being brave, G.

(I prefer Memorial Day on May 30; but nobody asked me what I prefer.)

I believe Memorial Day started shortly after the Civil War, when they (whoever "they" are) decided on a day to honor those who served.

Thanks to GP for serving.

Memorial Day is to honor veterans.
What Is A Veteran?

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve
-- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made
payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and
including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in
this country today, who no longer understand that fact. Celebrate the day!!!

Freedom is not "free"...Love and repect to all vets...even though it was a crazy time and the "vietnam war" was wrong, I hated Politicians even more in those days. Kennedy,Johnson,Nixon...I often felt guilty not having served. 4F .
