I want to include the wife, since it's Date Night, so I ask...
- if you are pitching, with men on 1st & 2nd with ONE out
- and you have an 0-2 count on the hitter
- what would you throw him?
She looks at me and says, "a strike?" I was expecting her to say
- something off the plate, make him swing out of his comfort Zone...
- a Knuckle curve on the inside corner ?
- something in the Dirt?
But no...she suggested the same thing Joe Blanton tried...a pitch down the Middle! a strike...the batter stroked the pitch to the Right Field Wall...two runs scored.
So, my wife knows as much about Pitching as Joe Blanton !
Go figure...

The answer in my house woulda been "a baseball?"
Other than the fact that he doesn't look like an athlete, doesn't have a pitching motion that I saw in the 60's, 70's, 80's or 90's from any decent pitcher, the fact that he throws a baseball like it's a dart and his philosophy is to "let 'em hit it" and he looks scared to death when he's on the mound it was a pretty good pickup for the Phils. Or so they tell me.
Guys in his hometown must be saying, "Do you believe he's a major leaguer???"
