Matthew Wade Stairs (born February 27, 1968 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada) is a Major League Baseball outfielder who plays for the Philadelphia Phillies. He married Lisa Astle of Fredericton with whom he has three daughters, Nicole, Alicia and Chandler.[1] In the off-season, he lives in Bangor, Maine, where he coaches hockey for John Bapst Memorial High School, a private high school.

Matt Stairs was a member of the Harrisburg Senators "AA" baseball team. The Senators were the farm team for the Expos and now the farm team for the Washington. Yeah, we know Matt Stairs and it didn't take long to realize he could hit. His stroke reminded me of the cooker. I believe the year was 1993, 2 years after I graduated from H.S.
