Remember Your First Real Paycheck?
Remember the first time you ever got a real paycheck or nowadays, paystub, direct deposit you know, John it's ...nevermind John, and looked at what you made and what you got to keep?
My eldest grandaughter just received her first real paycheck from her job at the locally owned supermarket, she's the Princess of Produce, the Diva of Bok Choi, the Queen of Tangerine...I digress, and I asked what did you think of "taxes"? "Not happy about that part Poppy." I told her to remember the question because in 50 years, despite what politicians say I believe there will be money available, when she gets her first SS check or Barack Bucks as we'll probably be calling it, she'll vaguely remember the old fat guy telling her that it will be somewhat worth the pain she feels now.
Right Uncle Johnny, Aunt Alyce, Aunt Judy Ann and anyone else who went through the same pain many, many, many years ago.
P.S. Uncle Paddy, I'll explain what a paycheck is next time I see you.

How about if we have a major sporting event without Referees, Umpires, Judges or Stewards? I Love that a 65 to one shot did ...

my first REAL paycheck came from Aluminum Shapes, were I worked after my senior year in High School. I thought I was going to be attending classes at VU, but it was not to be. The Bulletin and Lena's Laundry, where I worked during High School, did not issue checks, or the Direct Deposit option !
I remember the van Pea drove while working at "Lena's Cleanahs". Was it a light green with a white stripe??
My first paycheck was from the city of Phila. I was paid an excellent fee for cleaning the trash at Zeiler Playground (B&O) one summer. I was surprised to see money taken out for something called 'taxes'.
the light green and white striped van was what I drove when I worked for a Day Camp the Summer after my Seminary year. Good memory 'duard! At Lena's Cleanahs I drove a Chevy Chevette and worked 6 days per weeek for $1.00 per day, plus tips! and I liked the job!
