Just saw the Phanatic doing a dance with two women on the Top of the Dugout! Cracked me up...
How many Phanatics have we had?
Who designed the Phanatic outfit?
The Phanatic antics are worth the price of admission...

I had some friends who played football at the University of Delaware in the late 1970's. Dave Raymond, the original Phanatic, was visiting a guy named John Cleary, who lived with my buddy, Jeff Sanders in NYC. Dave had the Phanatic van and we were driving thru NYC in it. He had to take the costume to the people who made all of the Sesame Street puppets for some repairs. I had the Phanatics head on. At that time, the inside was a lacrosse helmet. I hope it's something more high-tech now because that thing was HOT! So, I'm guessing it was designed by the puppet people in NYC?
The first Phanatic was one Edward J. Blaze. He would entertain all those who attended his brother's baseball games. Do you remember the back flips as the "Cooker" strode to the batter's box? And the cartwheels as Pea turned another double play from his SS position?? Of course, Stoney never did much in baseball to get anyone excited. But, for sure, Blaze was the first. How about him running the bases and sliding into home as his Mother yelled "I just gave him a bath". Absolutely, the best.

By far the best...love the Fanatic! One of the best jobs in baseball too...
