I think they were doing both, being nice and "yanking" you. Be flattered, they're thinking of you...that's a good thing.
I agree with Blaze: It was a little bit of both. The important thing is that they thought of you & knew you'd get a kick out of their gift!
As Mother would say: Be gracious & say "thank you!" (then go out & find something "appropriate" for them!
Having worked in the delivery business yourself, Pea, did you tip the Ups/Fedex driver? I'm sure you did. You always had class which is why you probably received the present in the first place.
