In an agreement with the late baseball commissioner Bart Giamatti in 1989, Pete accepted a lifetime suspension with no chance to come back to the game OR GAIN ENTRANCE TO THE HALL OF FAME. In the agreement he did not admit to betting on baseball. Now, 20 years later, #14 has admitted that he did in fact bet on baseball numerous times during his tenure as "Reds" manager in his best selling book "My prison without walls". Ever since the dark days of 1919 and the Black Sox scandal in Chicago, gambling on baseball has been taboo for players, coaches and managers. YOU JUST DON"T DO IT. Rose knew the rule and flagrantly broke it.
