Smitty: & a few of his Buddies bidding him Goodbye...
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Mr. Smitty "The 1 Eyed Wonder Dog" McKendry on Tuesday 9/15/09. Smit succumbed to the ravages of time. He is proceeded in death by his brothers Duke, King and Fido.
Mr. Smitty was born in Wisconsin and spent his formative years in dog pounds, rescue homes and animal shelters in the Badger state. At the tender age of 2 he adopted a family in Michigan who longed to own a one eyed, untrained, wandering terrier.
His hobbies were car chasing, siren howling, dirty diaper shredding and crotch sniffing. He often hiked to exotic places like Delp Rd., Arbor Rd., Fruitville Pike and other local sites. He enjoyed long rides in police cars followed by expensive stays at the Lancaster Humane League. Smitty achieved the enviable status of Two Time Offender, the next time your owner is arrested, in the Fall of '03.
His warm greetings will be missed by everyone but most especially by his 2 aunts Alyce and Mary.
Condolences may be sent to Timothy J. in Lancaster. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate dozens of large oatmeal raisin cookies to remember him by.
Funeral services arranged by Warwick Run Vet and Waste Management Inc.

How about if we have a major sporting event without Referees, Umpires, Judges or Stewards? I Love that a 65 to one shot did ...

sad news Timmy, (but funny obit).
Edster and Susan
Very sorry to hear about Smitty. The obit is classic. No pictures of Smitty??
TJ...You forgot to credit him with his famous Thanksgiving Day Roundup of the herd of deer, which he herded to your front door. Proudly he followed them to within oh, about six feet of entering. Your truck's front seat will never be the same.
A fitting tribute to Smitty. He was a great dog and will be missed.
I think I have some claasic Smitty pics, and shall forward them on to the Blogmaster for publication.
Sorry to hear about Smitty...
Didn't he gets sprayed by Skunks one morning and relayed the smell to the kids? I think that is one of my favorite stories...
How did he get that name anyway?
this news makes me sad...
Sad news! Sorry to hear about your loss. (Some guys don't need 2eyes to be cute!)
I believe Smitty & Ollie Cavada (7/3/96-7/20/09)are probably swapping McK family stories up in that big Dog Park in the sky.
I have delivered the 12 DOZEN WARM-FROM-THE-OVEN, LARGE, HOMEMADE OATMEAL-RAISIN COOKIES to our local shelter in memory of Smitty-- (That's what you requested, right? ...hope I got that right!)
Will there be a memorial service?
Beautiful dog...great stories...God Bless Smitty!
