Phila Gas Works, Torresdale Ave. near North Catholic, under the cobblestones in the middle of the trolley tracks, 6 feet under ground upside down behind a 48 inch gas main grinding stinky rust off a pipe in 97 degree heat.

I'm getting claustrophobic thinking about it..

Or maybe being a cop carrying dead bodies out of a ahh never mind you'd be grossed out.

Yorktown theatre demolition. The theatre was in Jenkintown and they wanted to "gut" it. Had fun knocking down walls, ripping out old theatre equipment, old carpet, good n' musty smelling in there. I think Gerry stopped by one day for a visit.

August of '99. Took the roof off of a one-story house and had to scoop out all the insulation by hand. Very itchy. While removing the roof sections while balancing on the floor joists, I slipped and went through the bedroom ceiling. We were building another level on the house. Got me in shapr though...

There have been more than a few through the years...like the time the entire row of Pepsi bottles collapsed in the warehouse and 10,000 cases of cans spilled and I spent 3 days pickin' 'em up or the summer I spent laying pipe in NewBrunswick NJ for a constr.company or the time 3 55gal.drums of "pectin" exploded and it took days to pick it up, it's like Mercury when you try to pick it up it slides off the shovel and ya fall all over the place...ahh I could go on and on...ya learn from all of it dontcha?

It is not a "dirty job" story, but, you have to hear from the Cooker about the job he had selling "Street Cleaners" in Miami to an Arab Shiek in a Mercedes! It is the Funniest job story I have ever heard!!!

my third response in a row! I remember Edward's self demolition of the Yorktown Theater...to this day I believe I saved his Life! He was about 17 and totally Clueless! I expected to see a Company that was hired to Demolish the theater. Not to be...it was my "pimple faced, skinny little brother, by himself, with a Sledge Hammer, walking around a Movie Theater, knocking things down and Enjoying himself! It was UNBELIEVABLE! Some Moron hired this kid to demolish a three story building by himself!

Great stuff, I love finding out things I never knew about my family..and yes it was quite a visit to Miami in 1979 and it was a"sheik" but he was in a Gold RollsRoyce and yes I did call an end to my "sales" career after that week in Miami...a nightmare! The site was the Omni Center parking lot and I was behind the wheel...that's all i'll say!
