Happy Veteran's Day Pea... and We Want a Story...

Dear Veteran Pea-F-C-G-Pea-M,
First of all, thanks Pea for serving our country and Happy Veterans Day. What a great country we have. I love hearing stories about your time in the Army. The time you got claustrophobia while in the bunker, the whizzing bullets flying by your head which you couldn’t hear and the time every one “Locked and Loaded”… But, there is one story which is non-army related, that I want to hear about in further detail…

Can you tell us the story about the time you “apparently” jumped off the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge? To me and my friend’s it is legend, but I want some proof! Were any McKendry Brothers around to witness this Dare Devil act? What was the Cooker doing at this time? Was The Stoneman waiting for a bus to take him up to New York? What year was this? What time of day did this occur? Did the Bridge Toll Keeper say anything to you? What side did you swim to after jumping?

Please give us some insight on this…

A story...it was 1969, I was with my neighborhood friends, they were Wild & Crazy Guys! After out-running the Cop on Route 9 (by hiding in the driveway of someones house) we found ourselves in Avalon. From Avalon we had to get back to Sea Isle, when two people in the car decided to jump off the Bridge...after paying the .25 cent Toll. We swam to the Sea Isle side where the other passengers in the car would not let us in because we were wet and sandy...another story I could tell about NOT following the lead of crazy people is "The John Beard Story" and the midnight trip to a Vietnamese Village...YIKES!

in the top photo on the bridge-jumping story, does anyone else think that looks like Christopher diving off the bridge with Uncle Gerry? Is it just me missing him that I see a similarity??

It looks like Christopher because it IS Christopher! and the 3rd photo w/ the kid on the Rock shading his eyes is also Christopher!

Excuse me... How did Christopher end up in Sea Isle City in 1969? Wasn't he in college?
