Nope. WW1 they we're going to not play the World Series cuza the boys over there but allegedly the boys over there objected to cancelling it. So the owners decided a nice tribute to the troops was to remember them with the Star Spangled Banner.

Have you ever used spangled without star and banner sandwiching it?
I believe the author wrote it as he was a prisioner on a ship. He was surprised to still see the flag in the morning.
