Classless arrogant overrated prima donna diva sulking unappreciative overpaid. Was going nowhere w/ a damged wrist when Pat Gillick signed him as a 'prospect' for the Phils. He got to play w/ bunch of stars which allowed him to see good pitches and build his resume. Did he ever express thanks for the perfect opportunity? No. He whined and cussed at fans for two yrs. waiting for the chance to split. His parting words...."the Phillies didn't want him!!!!! Why? They offered him only $70 to 80 million. Get lost and may you enjoy the losing in D.C. Love the sports/games but can't stand the spoiled players. Within two yrs. Chase U. and J Roll will be whining and the good times are gone. U can book it Pea.
I don't understand how people can be upset with Jayson Werth. He declined a Phillies offer which was $58,000,000 less then what the Nationals offered him! How can you be mad at a guy for taking a contract worth $58,000,000 more then the next offer? The Phillies couldn't afford him. This is the name of the game in professional baseball. Yeah, he's over paid, but so is everyone else. the system is screwed up.
Yes, the Phillies took a “low-risk” chance on him in 2006. Werth worked his tail off and rewarded the Phillies in becoming an All-Star, 3 division Championships, 2 World Series appearances and 1 title. How can you blame the player if a team wants to pay him $128,000,000 over the next seven years?

Pea.....the deal "is what it is" but what ticks me is how pro athletes see only what's in their best interest and find it so hard to complement or thank others for their success. Why not say thanks to the Phillies and Pat Gillick and HIS TEAMATES publicly for the great situ and their contributions to his good fortune. How about saying thanks for all the support from the Phils faithful. NO, he has to say bitterly and petulantly that the Phils 'didn't want him' be/ they only offered three yrs. at $ 18 million each. He's a 5 tool player but the club did the right thing. This feels like when they lost Scott Rolen. Some things just have to be.......
