The photos were posted by 'lil Pea, but I will respond a "lil to his request for a Story. Most of the pics were taken in front of the house John & friends were renting in Sea Isle. Quiet Country played there one Sat afternoon. It was a Big Party that would not be allowed in Sea Isle today. I believe the house pics were 1969. The House was for sale I believe for $29,000. The car pics, jacket pics & some others' were from 1970. I know this cause I met Maryann in 1970 & that his her car & her rental house in Avalon. Maryann never met Mother, so I know I'm right on that. That's all I got right now...
i'm thinking the band/party photos are from 1970 because that was the first summer Quiet Country played in Avalon. A couple of other points...
- I would love to have that Gretsch guitar Michael is playing. That would probably be about a $3-5,000 guitar today. Also, the Fender Bandmaster amp Michael is using would be a bit of a collector's item today, probably about $2,000 - all Vintage equipment.
- I remember playing drums with the band, a real thrill. I would have been 15... nice of the big brothers to let me hang with them, don't you think?
E.J., you are right on the money with your observations..and I too wish I still had that guitar and amp...along with a half dozen others i've sold, traded, thru the years..the man can really turn a buck eh? I too remember that day, like it was yesterday...Joe Gavin, Danny Ragan, you on skins...ah! what times they were! Music memories are some of the best for me.
More of my story...I will concede that the shore photos are from 1970. Which got me to thinking, Feb 13, 1970 I got out of the Army. March 9 Mother died. It was about 3 weeks later when Dan Ragan loaned me a Blue Blazer & the two of us went to "Sunken Gardens" where I ran into Maryann. I knew her from High School, 1964. Next time I ran into her was at the shore 3 or 4 months later. The Summer of 1970 was a wonderful time! Quiet Country, The Dan Ragan Scuba Diving School, Michael & Dan pursuing Mary & Jane covertly, John @ IBM & Eddie playing @ Gallagher's Pub sitting on the stage cause he was so Young!
Summer 1970. For some reason I got into the shore thing like that. I was doing concrete for Kuhar. Was in a shore house but we worked Saturdays. Maureen was not allowed down the shore without Jean so ergo I didn't make all the mimi weekends to the shore. I DO believe I was at this bash though.
