... meanwhile, down in "Ginny"...The photo above was sent to me by Andy (TJ's favorite son-in-law) who, when he saw this he asked TJ..."what the @#$% are you doing?" Putting one used Ketchup Bottle on top of another Full Ketchup Bottle to Drain what? more ketchup?
- Andy went on to say to TJ..."don't embarrass Me! Just go open up a New Ketchup Bottle!!!Jeez!!!"
to which TJ responded..."waste not, want not..."

Time is approx. 1953 and we're at the Gladue's in Drexel Hill (behind St. Laurence's Church) for some holiday occasion and not long after Aunt Anna measure's Bobby and me for "who's taller' (remember Ted Sr./Jr. are about 5'8" and Bobby is her salvation if I will just stop growing. Well anyway, Uncle Ted tells uncle Harry & Dad to follow him down to the cellar. He has that ear to ear Cheshire cat grin on and they follow him. i'm curious and hoping that maybe I can hang w/ them so I follow. Well, under the steps he built shelves and covered them w/ a curtain. After a smile and 'wait'll ya see this' he pulls back said curtain & whaddyyano... he bought out the local A&P of all of the 50% off Heinz Ketchup! Must've been 200 bottles. Having had a couple snorts Uncle Harry & Dad were on him like Don Rickles. He didn't appreciate their humor but it was a stitch. The guy loooovvved his ketchup...put it on everything @ every meal. He'd beat hell out of the bottle and I remember Mother/Dad laughing bout it before they came for dinner once. Sure enough he beat the bottle that night and I couldn't help watching him. Note: after getting thrown off the team @ SFU and having no $$ to continue, a miracle happened and Teddy graduated from Villanova (which screwed Gery later)w/a Masters and got a job @ SFU. I lived w/ he and his wife Betsy and 3 girls. Had private entrance in basement and shower. today it's the pro shop for the school golf course, beautiful, but then was overgrown and beautiful. my cost was I had to wrestle w/ the crazy loon almost every night (which became a mess, knocking over bed. bureau, etc......a great semester and lotsa great stories/events. Next fall semester i'm eating lotsa pancakes in mess hall w/ friends on Dec. 8th, Immaculate Conception holiday and Bill Coyle comes in and says coach Hughes want's u to get over to practice right now. I do (be/ Mother's prayers were answered on Mary's Big Day) even though I now possessed a doz. pancakes and fruit salad, and go to practice and coach says, 'if you can behave I'll consider restarting your scholarship. Says he's been hearing a very sacred voice and another from somewhere w/ a slight Philly female accent to give me another chance. He did. Bless his memory and Mother for haunting his conscience. Teddy was a piece of work in Loretto and between us provided plenty of fodder. End of story. Ciao.
Thanks for the memories, Stoney!
As for ketchup-to-ketchup bottles: I did that very same thing just the other night. Why we had 2! LARGE bottles of the stuff in the 'frig is a mystery; so to make some room, I "consolidated"! Why wouldn't you?
...and Pea: I like the new look to the Blog! Change is good.
a,... Andy's Ketchup Bottle was Empty! TJ picked up a perfectly full & Fresh Bottle of ("Uncle Teds' Ketchup KItchen Catsup") from Kate & Andy's shelf & proceeded to sift the "TOTALLY" empty bottle of teresa kerry's, (who by the way, is married to john kerry, who served in Viet Nam & is now the Senior Senator from Mass since Ted Kennedy assumed Room Temperature), 57 Varieties ...}
Point< I believe is that Andy is accusing TJ of "penny-pinching" on You-Tube!
And by the way...I read The Internet today & Ted Jr's Son is apparently Hawking ..."GrandPop Ted's Country Ketchup KItchen Catsup!"
I understand they are Headquartered in Altoona...
can this be the most "worded" comment blog comments in history?
I just want to clarify that it was the "35" year old Kate's shelf where the "Uncle Ted Ketchup Kitchen Catsup" was situated. As I understand it, Kate bought the "Uncle Ted Ketchup Kitchen Catsup" while shopping at a "Swift Boat" store in Ginny!
Swift Boat Store in Ginny? I did not know that...do they sell Scuba Gear?
