Does anyone own a copy of this SI?

After "Googling" the name McKendry, I found an old write up mention of Stone Man.

per the SI article..."Providence beat Canisius easily enough 84-71, but Coach Joe Mullaney was worried. He had to play St. Francis in Altoona, Pa. and Duquesne in Pittsburgh over the Weekend. "They're just the kind that can dump you, especially on the road," said Mullaney. Sure enough, it almost happened in Altoona. St. Francis' John McKendry held Jimmy Walker to four points and the Friars barely won 50-48. It did happen in Pittsburgh. Providence led DUQUESNE by 10 points at the half. Then Walker, Mike Riordan and Jim Benedict fouled out. The Dukes pulled into a 68-68 tie and upset the Friars in overtime 78-76."

What are the details behind the game?

And who the hell is Rick Mount???

The question is...

will my Grandson be wearing the colors of his GrandPops Alma Mater when the Explorers take on Wichita State in the Sweet 16 next week?

I ask cause his Mom has been trying to brainwash him into thinking Villanova is the only College Basketball team to root for!

The Fun you can have with March Madness cracks me up! LOL...a great time to be an Explorer!

Today is the 3rd Anniversary of the passing of The Affordable Health Care Act voted into Law by the Democrats...

Some enterprising Senate Staffers decided to stack all the pages in the Law on top of each other. This is what it looks like...over 8 feet tall...

  • The Law does not actually go in to full force until 2014 so there is a good possibility that more pages will be added...
It should be interesting. Do you think there is a Go-to guy or gal that is the Expert that knows everything in the Law? I don't either.

How does this happen? Explorers Win!

"Henriquez and Shane Southwell scored 17 points each for Kansas State, which managed to climb back in the game in the second half by holding LaSalle to 3 for 18 shooting in the half."

Even playing in Grammar School & High School & at the Rec I never played on a Winning team that made only THREE baskets in the Second Half of the game and Won! I never played on a Team that made only THREE baskets in a Half ...ever!

unbelievable

I saw this on Philly.com today & had a "flash-back".

A visit with the legendary Tom Gola*

from the article on Philly.com "La Salle was in trouble in 1968. A previous coaching regime had gotten the program in NCAA trouble.
Durrett, Larry Cannon, Bernie Williams, Fatty Taylor and Stan Wlodarczyk needed a coach. Gola, busy with his investment business, a newly elected state representative in the process of running for a city controller job he would win, agreed to help his alma mater."

  • The Pea's comments...When I was a Sr in HS I was offered a scholarship to LaSalle. Turned it down for one to Villanova. That did not turn out too well...ended up working with Dad in NJ at "Aluminum Shapes". After that year I went to the Seminary. After that year LaSalle coach Joe Heyer gave me a Scholarship to LaSalle once again. Started matriculating @ LaSalle in Sept 1966 and ended up in "Basic Training" At Fort Bragg, NC on Feb 12, 1967. (what the !@#$%?) how did that happen?

I never thought about it  'til I saw this piece today. Tom Gola took over in '68?
What happened to Joe Heyer? Fran Dunphy I knew, Larry Cannon I knew, Durrett I heard about...I would have been a bald headed substitute ball handler on the '68 Team had I not been in Long Bien

Who knows, maybe things do work out for the better...

I never got to meet Tom Gola though...

Bringing this article closer to home is that Gola is in the same place where Bernie Black was & Michael has seen Gola's wife there...

Where I Work... What I Do

From time to time I have been asked by my siblings, "what do you do at your job?". Well, as you know, I work at Air Products, a global industrial gases and chemicals company. I manage the Marketing Communications for the Electronics Division. Our business sells gases, chemicals and equipment to semiconductor manufacturing companies like Intel, Samsung, IBM, TSMC, UMC, and more.

I work with very smart, highly educated people. People with PhD's in Chemical engineering and other engineering fields. The reason for this post is to share a little story that ran in today's CorpNews (an internal website for company news and business) about our Electronics Technology Team.

In a few months, I will be celebrating 28 years with Air Products. How the heck have I been able to 'hang' with these people when their idea of a celebration is honoring Pi???  (Here is the story and a poem about their celebration). Of course, Pie was served at the gathering. Now THAT'S something I could have helped them with!

Electronics Technology Celebrates “Pi” Day
On 14 March at 1:59:26 the Allentown-based Electronics Technology team celebrated "Pi day" in honor of what is arguably mathematics' most important constant: Ï€. The event consisted of a countdown to Ï€ at 1:59:26 followed by a dramatic reading of Ray Machado’s Ï€-inspired poem “Numbers” (see below). Finally pie and ice cream were consumed over lively discussions of favorite equations containing Ï€ and other humorous anecdotes.

When asked why he had chosen to celebrate Ï€, Electronics Technology director John Langan said that he thought he had also scheduled a celebration for the number “i” but later realized he had only imagined it.
Numbers by R. Machado

The most amazing equation ever conceived, by Euler and it changed the world!
eix= cos(x)+ i sin(x)
eip= -1
where i2 = -1

Euler’s equation may briefly shed light,
with simplistic beauty to natures delight.

Just suspend the rational, and then defy,
with imaginary vision, the number i.

Of course it’s natural, to seek a key,
perhaps under a log, the number e.

But dreaming of spheres, that circle the sky,
we discover a proportion, the number pi.

Combining our numbers, mathematical magic is done,

e,
raised to i times pi,
is simply equal,
to negative…one.

A future Pope riding the subway in Argentina...

This Pope could be very interesting...( all of this since the year 2000)

  • was banished to the Mts of Argentina to teach math to High Schoolers
  • Disagreed with the Gov't  policies
  • is a known intellectual regarding theology
  • does not speak english
Was rescued from the Mts of Argentina by Pope John Paul who named him Arch Bishop of BuenosAires
  • The Liberal Jesuits that sided with the Gov't didn't like it...but what could they do?
John Paul then made Jorge a Cardinal...and now he is The Pope...
  • what did John Paul see in this man?
And who knew they had a subway system in Argentina?!?

"If It Hadn't Been for Love"

Another song from the recent session. This one features GeraldPea on one of the cameras. We actually had three cameras and a separate audio recording going, we are a long way from a very cheap microphone hanging over the pipe in the "D"St. cellar.

Thanks again to "TimmyCam" and GeraldPea for their assistance.

Lauren Silberman Kicks at NFL Combine

...and whose idea was this? The woman is either a Publicity seeker & they don't get try outs w/ the NFL. Or a Pawn. And the NFL people that allowed her on the field are !@#....(what?)

This is just the NFL. They go to War on Sundays (sometimes Mon/Thurs/Sat)

What about women in combat? Will they be able to choose what day of the week they will participate?

The "powers that be" that allow women in combat are Fools...

# 1 Ranked Golfer in the World walking off the course among 3 normal sized Adults...

He looks like a Kid with a tooth ache for cryin' out loud!

Monday Night for the West Coast Pea

The woman is working so lets make some chili...

Lets get a little crazy and throw some hot sausage in there.

The Ol' Lady gets home and dinner is not ready...

She gets upset because the chili may take a few hours to finish and then decides to look at the orchid.

I cheer her up up because we were recently given a new TV from Sam and Tim. She loves Real Housewives.

I go back to drawing on my computer.

Then we look at the Lakers schedule. We got OK-C tomorrow! Bring it!

Adios from Hermosa Beach. Chili is in the "Slow Cooker"...

The Making of John Mayer's 'Born & Raised' Artwork

The Making of John Mayer's 'Born & Raised' Artwork from Danny Cooke on Vimeo.

Maybe we can get this guy to make the album cover for the McKendry Brothers if they ever make another album to follow up their 199_ "It's About Time".
