per the New York Times...
"The fundraising phenomenon asks those willing to douse themselves to challenge others to do the same within 24 hours. If they don't, they must make a donation to a certain charity. Each person who participates nominates more friends, who nominate more friends, who nominate still more friends, which explains why the trend has exploded."
Now the Pea asks...If you douse yourself with an ice bucket, you can challenge 4 friends to do the same thing. If your friends DO NOT douse themselves with an ice bucket they have to donate $100.00 to ALS. Am I right so far?
So, if you douse yourself with an Ice Bucket you DO NOT have to donate $100.00 to a charity.
What am I missing here?

Crazy stuff Pea...please don't challenge me though...my kids are doing it. Brrrrr!
just a lot of social media videos and no money for ALS.
An article this morning articulated the impact this craze has had. Last year the ALS foundation had something like $1.6 million YTD. This year it's $9.6 million. Mostly everyone, even those who soak themselves, donate too.
Makes sense now?
