Honestly, what team or athlete doesn't cheat? The NFL left the door open, literally, on the inflated game balls. If it's that important get one of the hundred NFL flunkies on the side line to watch the balls. BTW, do they measure the dimensions of the field? Height of the goalposts? Width of the goalposts? The length of the sideline chains? How do they know the clock is accurate?
An incredible silly waste of time for grown well paid $$$$$$$ jerks to be attending to....no other sport allows teams to control the balls in use. Who cares if the balls are softer? It makes it softer for intercepting and, oh hell.....who cares!!!!!
What team doesn't look for an edge? Cheating..I guess. As a former quarterback, I can tell you, softer balls are easier to throw, somewhat, but don't go as far..then there's the catch..mmm..a trivial matter, bully for the Pats..they got another ring!
