What is a "safety squeeze" and how did it enable the Cubs to beat the Big Bad Cards tonight?

I know what it is because I played for Big Jack for one season of Little League & it drove
the other Coaches Crazy!

  1. The safety squeeze - Baseball By The Yard

    www.baseballbytheyard.com/the-safety-squeeze
In a safety squeeze, the runner on third base does not break towards home plate until he sees that the ball is bunted properly. In this case “bunted properly ...

Joe Madden (the cubs mgr) used it twice tonight
in the same inning & the Cubs scored 5 UnEarned runs!

The Cardinal infielders had no clue what to do with the
ball they caught. 2 errors. The Pitcher then gives  up a
Home run, puts his head in his hands in the dugout
and gives up...I loved it...Small Ball.

    Cubs ended up winning 6-3

I want the Cubs to win. I love "small ball" too but the bashers get the big bucks.

Safety Squeeze: runner on 3rd does not break for home until the batter has bunted the ball safely onto the field of play. VERSUS, Suicide squeeze: runner on 3rd takes off before the pitcher completes his throw to the plate! Hitter attempts to get the bunt downThis play was perfected by Cooker & Joe Latrish. Look out for the nut swinging with the bat!
