LOS ANGELES (AP) — New York Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada broke his right leg when a takeout slide by the Los Angeles Dodgers' Chase Utley flipped the shortstop in the seventh inning of Game 2 of the NL Division Series on Saturday night.
The weather report from LA before the game was:
- 90 Degrees
- Clear skys
- 22% Humidity
Jimmy Rollins said it was just "Chase being Chase"...
Oh yea, and I believe the umps called Chase Safe after further review...

tough baseball... and an awkward play all around. Tejada was in a weird position after catching the flip from the 2nd baseman. Chase may have slid a little late but I think it was compounded because of Tejada's position, in that he couldn't skirt across the bag and make the throw. Last point, watch the replay again, Chase gets smacked pretty good, right in the head from Tejada's knee. Lucky he wasn't knocked out. Chase is toughening up the Dodgers.
Why, in my day..that's just the way the game was played..spikes high in the air, blah,blah,blah...what would Pete Rose have done? Ask Bud Harrelson..look it up!
