It was about 40 years ago & eddie found himself babysitting Pattie D. It was snowing outside.
Pattie D. was already asleep. There was no fire crackling.

Eddie was sitting on his sisters ottaman with his guitar on his lap & wishing he knew how to light a fireplace. He imagined the fire burning, the fire crackling, the snow falling and his niece/neice
peacefully sleeping.

So eddie wrote this song...
