How about if we have a major sporting event without Referees, Umpires, Judges or Stewards? I Love that a 65 to one shot did ...

Read the Inquirer account this morning, of the passenger's experience and the very calm demeanor of the Star pilot. After the sad death of the passenger, a man actually stood with his 'lower back' blocking the open window (helping to equalize cabin pressure) and two men actually struggled to pull the poor victim back into the plane, risking their own lives and a nurse and fireman started CPR immediately on the victim, but to no avail. Also, passengers commented on the very soft landing!!! Some said they had 'their heads down in crash position and didn't realize they were already on the ground', it was such a great landing. Additionally, a former NTSB spokesperson is quoted as saying, 'we're without a metal strong enough to withstand the speed and wear of the blades, which eventually are worn down and break off". The newest regulation called for replacement/inspection only on those of an advanced age. This plane was a newer model, ugh.
Note: flying is still a very safe mode of travel according to statistics.
Note 2: the reaction of the crew and people who helped the victim, etc. make me so proud of humanity, ie., helping others in a time of extreme emergency and risking their own safety. Kindness and empathy are in short supply.
