BASEBALL...

A First Base umpire used to have to do two things on a close call:
  1. Listen for the sound of the ball smacking against the 'pocket' of the glove, and also
  2. Listen for when the runners foot hits the bag
Did the Ump hear the ball hit the glove 1st or did the runners foot hit the bag 1st? Simple, right?

Not anymore!
Apparently, on further review, if the ball has entered the cone of the glove
before the runners foot hits the bag the runner is OUT!

WHAT?!?!?!? Let’s hope the NBA, NFL and NHL don’t follow suit.
