I'm thinking about all those people cheering/dancing and just enjoying talent and a great night out, like the girl dancing by herself with a glass of beer, knows all the lyrics, and finally, midway through that song, her husband comes on the floor and dances with her. She was certainly having a ball... Now, I ask you, where will these people ever find a band with such personality, musicianship, energy, soul for the sounds, and a spirit that uplifts people to knock themselves out, dancing and "whoopin' it up"?
Think about the reunions that occured during these gigs, the people who met (a friend I met years ago, who met his wife at the bar. He originally grew up on a Kansas cattle ranch, now they live in Colorado. He loved the McKendry Bros...."best damn country band he heard"), the bar tenders who enjoyed their sound, the owners who love a packed house (that spends real money. too)....and I think of the preparation of Michael with his binders of lyrics and pure pleasure of his passion.....and his thrill/pride, often expressed, of playing with Eddie...and each of the musicians of the band. Damn, what a loss! But, we know, life moves on....God Bless Michael......never forgotten....
Me again.....last night had dinner with group of friends I've known for past 55 yrs. Heard a great toast, perfect for Michael...."We may not remember all that he said, or all that he did...but, we will never forget how he made us feel..."
