Baseball referees wear hats
Baseball referees work outdoors most of the time.
They also wear black shirts and grey trousers.
Basketball referees look a little more Macho...& do not wear hats.

Black trousers
Just the opposite color coordination of baseball referees!
PS...one other difference...baseball refs have no need to hustle...
