Practical things your Grandkid should know something about.

First & foremost, The Kid should be given the opportunity to
learn a musical instrument.
The Kid needs to be taught checkers
The strategies of Poker are an Asset!
And the more card games The Kid knows
the better their future
Chess is tricky, so start early...
Every Kid needs to know the strategy of Craps.

And the ultimate Games The Kid should have some knowledge of :

Golf

Even if they are no good at it (good is subjective).

The majority of golfers do not break 100 or even come close!

But, the Kid needs to know about The Game. The Rules, the Concept, the Etiquette,
who the current star Pros are & some history of Golf.

the Kid needs to be able to converse about the game.

and Tennis

Tennis is a year 'round topic of conversation for a whole lot of people:

The Kid should have an understanding of the sport:

Big money/Big celebrities love the game.

Australian Open in January (since 1905)

French Open in May-June (since 1891)

Wimbledon (UK) in June-July since 1877

US Open in August-September since 1881

A majority of parents believe Golf & Tennis are snobby sports.

That is not true.

They are world wide sports that people love &
your the kid should have some knowledge of.

Like...
does your kid know that
15 year old Coco Gauf defeated

39 year old tennis icon Venus Williams
last week at Wimbledon?

Just some popular practical things you may want your grandkid to know about.

Of course some grandparents may have other advice
for their grandkid, so there is that to factor in.

How many are aware of a cousin of ours, Chris McKendry, who went to Drexel U. on a tennis scholarship but later gave it up to learn the TV biz? Today she is semi retired but remains the chief tennis analyst for ESPN, from whom she retired. She attends every major tennis tourney in the world, re/the list above . Recently, her nephew (her brother Dan's son)was selected in the 2nd round by the Tampa Bay Rays, as a pitcher, and now pitches for the Hudson NY Renegades, in short season rookie league (he's 2-0)....someday we'll be proud when he's in the majors.....
