California wild fires helicopter pilot Alpiner...
Pilot Alpiner was hovering about 200 feet above the ground in his helicopter, readying to unleash a bucket of water on the fire, when he noticed a quick movement from an open side window.
"I saw this flutter out of the corner of my eye," Alpiner said. "I looked over, a little spooked, and we locked eyes."
The owl stayed with us for about an hour. Refused to strap in. And left us when
we landed to re-fuel.
