Amanda (15) is a Sophomore @ Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, Ca.
Amanda has become the starting midfielder for the girls soccer team.
They are 5-0 so far!
I made the mistake of asking, "What does mira costa mean"
Amanda is fluent in Spanish & was stunned I did not know!
Mira Costa simply means 'see the coast or look at the coast'
That pissed me off, so I asked her,
What does Cardinal Dougherty mean...
I'm still waiting for her answer.

Congrats to Amanda. I love your serious approach to competition, and, to the beautiful game of soccer. I've become a serious tv fan of NCAA (women & men) and pro soccer.
Keep going, and, 'take no prissoners'...
BTW: a little known fact from ancient history. Uncle John McK was a quick footed center back looooong ago, at Northeast Boys Club, in beautiful downtown Bridesburg,in gorgeous Philly, PA. We too had a water view, of the Delaware River and the glowing towers/sickening odors of a neighboring Chemical plant, next door. As artificial turf was yet to be discovered, we enjoyed the pits and mounds of dirt that dominated the field. Grass seed hadn't been discovered, either. Anyway, video of those games is not available, and, my mind is clouded so I can only say it was so...Good Luck, Amanda. Keep your energy high and 'kick butt'...
