The STEEPEST STREETS in San Francisco

This is really a credible couple. Those grades are INSANE, 31.5deg is impossible for a 79 yo amateur, but I'd like to be in SF to try it. What is the Manayunk Hill angle of rise? Might as well be 90 deg for all I care. The hills I encounter are challenging enough to make my thighs seem numb, at times, but mostly I avoid such climbs for the peace and Zen of a quiet bike trip. I recommend the purchase/frequent use of a good quality bike. Even an E-bike is beneficial and very enjoyable. Break down and buy one. Money wisely spent. Be sure to purchase a storage bag for your junk, and a phone holder, lights in front/back, helmet and a skull cap for warmth, warm gloves, and a small speaker or ear buds to listen to music, if you so choose. Guinness for medicinal purposes after a long challenging ride,,,it helps you feel better and recover quickly. If you can't recover quickly, keep taking doses of Guinness until you feel really really good. The best over-the -counter remedy for dry fatigue. Water can be a sadder substitute.

Brother John/Jack! I looked it up & the Manayunk "WALL" is a mere 17% grade!

What is the gradient for the Manayunk Wall?

The Manayunk Wall is hallowed ground in cycling circles. The infamous half-mile stretch begins at Main and Levering streets and heads up at a 17 percent grade, hence the name.

Typical Philly bragadociousness...lol!
