Great question. I think he's the announcer? Otherwise, he is there to laugh at Jay's jokes when Kevin Eubanks refuses to. Those are my best guesses.

Ok here it is, Melendez and his brother shot their parents with a shotgun a few years back. Begged for mercy at their trial and asked the judge to go easy on them since they were orphans. Da judge went easy and sent one of them to work release, thus the gig with Leno...................I think that's it. If it's not that it's a minority hiring thingy.
