Polar Bear Plunge - 2009

Polar Bear Plunge 2009 Myself and about 20 guy/girls are going to Sea Isle City next weekend to do the Polar Bear Plunge. Has anyone ever done something like this? I think I am going to pound a few shots of Jack and go for a swim. Will there be “Shrinkage”? Should I bring my goggles? I’m thinking I’ll be able to do some bodysurfing. Any stories?

show us some real photos AFTER you do it and I will believe it! Is the Big P doing it too?

The Big Pea will not be participating in this stupid stunt! And, shrinkage will occur in the frozen waters of the Atlantic! But, does anyone remember the Big Peas' dive from the Avalon/Sea Isle bridge in July of 1970?

I absolutely remember the dive...for I too did the same thing with the boys in "Quiet Country"...had to be 125 feet in the air then...you did a flip into a pike layout, who could forget! In a tank suit no less!!

Do I remember it? Do I remember it? You betcha sweet arse I remember it. He dang near landed on me. I was doing my annual swim around the island when this hairy GI with a bell bottom, Eduardian cut, speedo belly flops next to me. The shocl must have knocked him out and he began to sink. I dove under and grabbed him by his long hair and swam to shore. Not wanting to be glorified, I then faded into the sunset.

It's all true. Just ask Smitty 2 who was swimming with me.

If you coat yourself with Vaseline it helps insulate you.

Just watch out for the Coast Guard as they patrol for oil slicks.
