although we had a sister, we were kept away from her. She was "special", Mother's favorite. Does any one ever recall Dad or Mother correcting her, or, yelling at her? She was and remains "special"! The boys on the other hand...
i don't remember ever doing anything that got Mother and Dad mad at me. Until I moved out!
My big sister was ALWAYS, and still is, the 3rd parent in our house. "Alyce said so." ended most discussions.
One thing Big Jack did instill in me was that "Mother" and Alyce were to be respected at all times. Who else do you know who called their mother, "Mother"?
I guess that's why The Queen and her Princesses are pampered by my son and I around here.
I wish I paid more attention to Alyce and her "doings" in those days...I bet she was pretty cool in her own way..I just always took her for granted, you know, beautiful blue eys, pleasant disposition, great laugh, great to have in the audience when we were carrying on...quiet, strong, a sweetheart to me ...and I'm happy to have her today, she's still very special to us all...just the way "Mother" was ...love her dearly!
