Thoughts on the news of Tom Brookshier's death...

What a good football player and announcer. Only thing I hold against him is that he gave us Angelo Cataldi. I read the Inquire reporting his death at 78 and did not realize he still lived in the area, West Conshohocken. Other stuff...
  • did not know he missed two years of NFL cause of ROTC commitment
  • did not know he had 8 Interceptions in 12 games as a Rookie
  • Comments from other Old Timers but no comment from Chuck. Look forward to hearing from him.
  • I do remember him breaking his leg in '61, I was 15.
  • Finally, they say his #40 is Retired by the Eagles. I did not know that.
Brookie was good at what he did.

Brookie was a very good FB player. Unfortunately, he was never the same after returning from the broken leg. It forced early retirement on him. I was 13 when he broke his leg, I think. Rest in peace!

I met him someplace as a teen. My memory was that he impressed me as a real nice guy who loved sports and didn't take himself too seriously.

40 is a lousy number though. RIP Brookie
