The Internet? Bah!

This is a portion of an article that appeared in Newsweek Magazine in 1995. Basically, the author is saying the Internet is dying. Here is a short segment from the article. Do you think the internet is a just a fad? ...Then there's cyberbusiness. We're promised instant catalog shopping—just point and click for great deals. We'll order airline tickets over the network, make restaurant reservations and negotiate sales contracts. Stores will become obselete. So how come my local mall does more business in an afternoon than the entire Internet handles in a month? Even if there were a trustworthy way to send money over the Internet—which there isn't—the network is missing a most essential ingredient of capitalism: salespeople. Sales People??? I HATE Sales People! The last thing I want is someone annoying me with their B.S. while I'm trying to buy something. I never shop at stores, internet all the way...

Thank God for Al Gore! He intented the internet!
