Happy Opening Day!

Phillies play tomorrow but the MLB season starts today. One of the greatest days of the year.

Have you ever had an argument that sounded like this?

Is a Bigger Screen a Better Screen?

At 76 feet high and 97 feet wide, with 7,372 square feet of digital space, the new board, in left-center field, is the largest by square footage in the National League and second in the major leagues only to Kansas City's.

Political Correctness has gone too far!

These "Books" were discovered 5 years ago & are thought to be a real break-through in the History of the Christian Religion. The school is still out on that.

  • But, they are thought to be from the year 50 CE
I asked what is CE? It replaces AD and is known as the Common Era. As opposed to BCE, which replaces BC & is referred to as the Before Common Era.
  • Does this stuff drive you Crazy?

I know I tend to Dream...but doesn't everyone?

I have been researching the Joshua Tree area, about 2 hours from Redondo Beach. It is the Desert, which I happen to like to look at...question is:

  • Should I rent for a while, or Buy?
If I Rent it will deplete my Resources, if I Buy I may come to regret it.
  • The closer one gets to L.A & Redondo Beach, the more Expensive it gets!
I can Buy a place in Indio or La Quinta for about $110,000 (about $800.00 per month with a VA no money down deal). Redondo is about $600,000 ( about a gazzilion per month, which would REALLY Stretch my Resources, and then I would Die)!

  • 24 hours later & I am considering Naples, Florida.  Anybody want to Move in with Me?

We had a Gas Smell Emergency in the neighborhood & I took a Photo...

This is our Local Union at work...you can click on the photo more than once to Enlarge...

60 yr old Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy...Can your "Main Squeeze" Dance?

VHS to YouTube

I have recently been converting old VHS tapes to DVD or You Tube. Here are a few that might have some interest. The first one is a Dunk video created by Sam while he was attending GA. It's 20 years old! I'm still looking for the "Whitpain Widdler"...

This is a High School Football show which highlighted Wissahickon vs. CB West in the 1994 PIAA Playoffs. You can watch me get stuffed on 4th and 1. It still gets me angry.

jack johnson - better together (live). I was Torn between the NCAA Tourney & the Palladia Marathon & I discovered this guy...

My Sister-In-Law called me Today...

Caroline, my Sister in Law, cleans Houses. Her business is Very Prosperous. People that have Caroline clean their Home have Moola ($$$).

  • So, Caroline calls me & tells me she has a "Client" that is looking for an "older" dog, in good health.
  • The woman owns a home with 3 acres, loves dogs, and is looking for another Old one.
I am to take photos of my Coco so Caroline can show them to her "Client" on Tuesday.
  • What would you do?
P.S. this Post is Not about showing off my Vehicle, although it is a Great Looking Vehicle! It sure beats The Van that the Gay One drives!!!

If you had to describe this Photo in Three Words or less...

...what would those Words be?

"Awesome" has already been taken...

For what it's worth...

Who's on First...? and Pea is for Politics...

So...we have a "Coalition", 20 something countries...

  • Our President says we will be handing off the Leadership in a couple of days
  • The Germans say, we are "out-a-here"
  • The British are running out of "Tomahawk Missiles"
  • The French sent the first Fighter Planes in & now they want a "committee" to take over the Leadership of the "Keystone Kops"
Meanwhile, the ARAB coalition that asked for the "no fly zone" over Libya is saying the Coalition went too far! And, the ARAB'S have provided 4 Jet Fighter's to the Fight...all from Quatar (Cutter, as CNN says)
  • and then we learn that the French have ONE Aircraft Carrier & the Brits have NO Aircraft Carriers
And, take note... the World Press still! cannot agree on the spelling of Ghadafi, Quadafi, Quadhaffi, Gadahfi...

  • This stuff drives me Crazy!

The last time I bought tickets to "an Event" it was... Jesus Christ Super Star in the 1970's

I now have tickets to the Women's NCAA Tournament on Sunday at Temple U.!

  • I just hope that this Sunday with the NCAA Crowd is as enjoyable as the Concert with the Jesus Christ Super Star Crowd from the 1970's...

It is 11PM & I am headed to bed when I found this Photo on Facebook...

...could this Photo be one of three?

  • I checked my Date Book & sure enough, this must be one of "The Trips"!
They had a 3rd Birthday this week & all I know is that...that is Not Daniel!
  • Am I right?
We need more photos from the Grandparents...Ugh!

You may not be a FAN, but...

  • ...the Blog is giving a Happy Birthday High Five to William Shatner...he turned 80 Today...
Talk about staying power...this is a man that has done a lot with a little...

I have seen many people on TV wearing these "little watches". And even Charlie wears one !

And I wondered what they were. While watching the Golf Channel I found out that they are not watches, they are the Latest Scam!

  • Apparently, they will help you keep your Balance & give you more Energy!
They are $19.99 a piece...BUT WAIT!....
  • if you order in the next 10 minutes...
they will send you two bracelets for the price of One!
  1. Anybody wear one of these?

With the approaching snow (you haven't heard about that?!?) , Coco & myself have decided to head for Florida...

We have Family there, in Judy Ann's Moms place & Paul's sisters place.

  • We have friends of Family there also;  John/Jack's  friends in Naples, Wes Shaw near Clearwater, Bernie Axling in wherever...Florida.
I think the two of us can pull this Trip off...if I can only get Coco in the vehicle!

  • and the Family & Friends are willing to accept us...

Circa 1958, we owned a TV but no Guitar...The Youngest One was Born to Play!

"Keelan. Drop the Sea Shells....

...do you know what a "Down & Out" pattern is ?"

NCAA Tournament

Other than the repetitive commercials; especially that one by Verizon that has the kid plugging in electric sockets during a storm & ends with "RULE THE AIR"...the thing I dislike most about the Tourney is...

  • Frank Martin, the Coach of Kansas State
I would bet Money that he will not be back next year. Or at least he shouldn't be back. The man is a Psycho & a Bad influence on College Players.

Who are these people & where & when were these Photos taken?

...and why did Michael show up at a Family Picnic in a "Sport Coat/white shirt/ Tie/ khakies & White Bucks? Was he selling Real Estate or Insurance at the time or was he a "Financial Planner" or a Car Salesman???

  • and who is that Guy between TJ & Vincent that looks like The Pea?
  • and why does Blaze look like he is 6' 11"?

Things I have experienced & learned over the last 89Hours while my computer was "off-line"

  • On a trip to the Jersey Shore I learned that Beach Haven is now called something else
  • I learned that you can have a dog that you can take anywhere, according to the 1990(?) ADA Law as long as it is declared a "Service" Dog.
  • I really missed the computer and wondered how we got by without it in the "Old Days"
  • I actually bought a Newspaper...one that comes with Ink on it
  • I learned that if you do not e-mail your Grand-daughter to wish her a Happy 5th Birthday, she does not get the Message...even though you called her on the Telephone...
  • I Experienced Uncle Michael & Jason showing up @ my Bachelor Pad, instruments & Amps in hand to "Practice" multiple riffs while I am trying to watch NCAA Basketball!
  • Keelan turned 21! Happy Birthday, Keelan...
I also got a letter from the Pa State Inheritance TAX Department that tells me that Judith Ann left me an inheritance of $722.00 on which I owe the County of Phila $108.00 (15%)! Apparently, since we had a joint Checking account that amounted to $1444.00 at the time of her death, she bequeathed me her half!
  • I also learned that I was able to "FIX" my broken computer without the help of Comcast...once I set my Mind to it...

Does anyone know this guy?

So on my recent trip to Los Angeles, I bought a new edition of SLAM Magazine(Basketball) and read an article about Maurice Stokes. I thought the StoneMan would like to read it.

Click Here to read the article

Original Old School: A Beautiful Tragedy

SLAM 146: Maurice Stokes’ career suffered a tragic ending, but his memory lives on today.

If not for a terrible injury that cut his career short, Maurice Stokes may have changed the landscape of 1960′s NBA basketball. Unfortunately, the 1956 Rookie of the Year fell victim to post-traumatic encephalopathy after landing on his head in a 1957-58 Playoff game. The injury robbed Stokes of his career just when it was getting started, but the reaction to his injury showed NBA players at their most caring and selfless. Peep this feature from the most recent issue of the magazine, SLAM 146—Ed.

Do you own a "Globe" or an "Atlas"?

If so, you would know that Japan is a series of Islands. It is not exactly a Big Country.

  • if they are just a series of Islands
How come they have had so much influence in World History?

Thursday, March 10, 2011

We can Thank the Cappoferri Brothers & the Mayfield Sisters for the "First Ever Family Day @ a Bar in Ambler!

"A First Ever Family Day With The McKendry Brothers,
Sunday, March 13!"

  • That was the Headline in the latest Shanachie News Letter e-mail.
Do you remember an earlier Post where we thought the kids presence was a nuisance @ The Shanachie?

  • Well, apparently, the Owners got an idea from the nuisance and
The BM's will be doing a Sesame Street Session on Sunday!

  • Ya gotta LOVE the versatility of the BM's!!!
I have already requested to Perform itsy-bitsy-spider...

A Challenge!

It is March 10th, 2011 and I am issuing a challenge... The Pea and I have always thought it would be a momentous event if the McKendry Brothers could sing "I've Been Everywhere". The song was written by Geoff Mack in 1959 and made popular by the singer Lucky Starr in 1962. In 1996 Johnny Cash recorded a version and to me, it's the best one.

Here is a link to some information about the song: Click Here

Do you think the McKendry Brothers could pull this off? How great would it be to hear Michael's voice singing these words:

"I've Been Everywhere"

I was totin' my pack along the long dusty Winnemucca road, When along came a semi with a high an' canvas-covered load. "If you're goin' to Winnemucca, Mack, with me you can ride." And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside. He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand. And I said, "Listen, I've traveled every road in this here land!"

[Chorus:]

I've been everywhere, man. I've been everywhere, man. Crossed the desert's bare, man. I've breathed the mountain air, man. Of travel I've had my share, man. I've been everywhere.

I've been to: Reno, Chicago, Fargo, Minnesota, Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow, Sarasota, Wichita, Tulsa, Ottawa, Oklahoma, Tampa, Panama, Mattawa, La Paloma, Bangor, Baltimore, Salvador, Amarillo, Tocapillo, Baranquilla, and Perdilla, I'm a killer.

[Chorus]

I've been to: Boston, Charleston, Dayton, Louisiana, Washington, Houston, Kingston, Texarkana, Monterey, Faraday, Santa Fe, Tallapoosa, Glen Rock, Black Rock, Little Rock, Oskaloosa, Tennessee, Hennessey, Chicopee, Spirit Lake, Grand Lake, Devils Lake, Crater Lake, for Pete's sake.

[Chorus]

I've been to: Louisville, Nashville, Knoxville, Ombabika, Schefferville, Jacksonville, Waterville, Costa Rica, Pittsfield, Springfield, Bakersfield, Shreveport, Hackensack, Cadillac, Fond du Lac, Davenport, Idaho, Jellico, Argentina, Diamantina, Pasadena, Catalina, see what I mean-a.

[Chorus]

I've been to: Pittsburgh, Parkersburg, Gravelbourg, Colorado, Ellensburg, Rexburg, Vicksburg, Eldorado, Larimore, Admore, Haverstraw, Chatanika, Chaska, Nebraska, Alaska, Opelika, Baraboo, Waterloo, Kalamazoo, Kansas City, Sioux City, Cedar City, Dodge City, what a pity.

[Chorus]

One more sentimental Mother moment...

As you will notice, Edward is missing from this Photo. Because he wasn't born yet! The brownish/yellowish photo below the Main photo was my attempt to Scan what Mother wrote on the back of the Main photo. It did not work out but it says...

  • "Aren't They Great !!"
The Photo says April 1955, obviously Easter Sunday & we all look pretty Great!
  • Edward arrived just weeks later
P.S. I notice that I am the only Male with a jacket pocket enhancer...Style,  Baby! :>)!

This is a photo of John at his 40th Birthday Party...

...just after we Sang Happy Birthday and while Dad made "suggestions" on what John could do to  improve his Condo!

  • if you click on the photo you will get an idea of what Jason thought of the conversation and also what John thought of the conversation...

The Puckett Brothers...I will Post this at least once a Year until I die...

Nobody wanted my Freezer (which PECO took & paid ME $35.00 for)

Now I'm asking...anybody want a "Curio"?

  • it is about 76" high and has a light in it
I am trying to "cut down" on stuff I don't need...I just can't seem to "cut down" on Living, breathing, hairy, smelly things that live with ME!

Could your 8th Grade Basketball Team...

...beat this 8th Grade Basketball Team?

News out of Lancaster...and who do you think e-mailed me this?

It is with deep regret that I inform you Pea of the untimely passing of Snowflake White over to the big carrot patch. Snowy, as he was known to his family, hopped over to the other side peacefully on the morn of March 4th.

Snowy led a hippity, hoppity life that began in Philly and tragically ended in Lititz. He is survived by 423 brothers and sisters, as well as his adoptive family of Faith, Fiona, Deirdre and Nora; well honestly, not so much Faith.

A memorial service will be held tomorrow, Peter Rabbit will be the euologist. Hugh Hefner will be the lone pall bearer.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting carrot cake.

Funeral arrangements by Elmer Fudd.
