For those that don't know...a "down & out" pattern is, the receiver runs down the field & makes a move to the sideline. Dutch preferred the "buttonhook" when we played on the cinders of Feltonville...I remember it well.
They can't cover it Pea. There is always some "Wuss" who doesn't want to get beat and he turns and starts to run. Whoosh, you "hook it up" and the Dutcher will hit you in the numbers with the old Bert Bell Special. The call... "everybody 10 and buttonhook." Joe Glennon, Mouse Rapone, Monk Pryor, Richie Sos,with Frank & Sylvan. What a line up!!
