I'm thinking this may be a good idea.

The West Coast of the USA consists of three states, Washington, Oregon and California. This November the citizens of Ca. will get to vote on whether they want to break up their state.

https://www.geolounge.com/how-many-states-are-along-the-east-and-west-coasts/

This debate has been going on for years. The East Coast of the USA consists of 15 States.

The breakup of Ca will happen eventually but not in my
lifetime. Think North/South Carolina, Virginia/West Va.

From one of the proposed maps I've seen my Grankids will
still be living in California

The map shows N. Cal, S Cal & California.

My grankids will still live in Cal...

CA is so often maligned but upon further exam, it's clear, they have a great argument against the federal govt. Just google, "States that take and states that contribute" or any similar reference. Relying on politicians to explain $$$ issues is to listen to their favorite biased opinions. Truth is in the $$ numbers, eg, Caleefornia is the 5th largest economy in the world! They have a population of nearly 40 million people. They pay nearly 15.3% in state taxes (40 million people require a lot of roads/services). They send $42 Billion to Washington but only receive back $.96 on the dollar (NewJersey gets back $.74 for every dollar sent to DC. In contrast, SC gets back $7.14 for every buck they send. Check out any RED state vs. the BLUE states and you'll find that Blue states are subsidizing Red states by any $$ standard you choose. So, when considering the states that have the greatest population remember they're the ones contributing, by far, the greatest amount of federal tax dollars but everyone of them gets the shaft from the federal govt. as far more money is redistributed to Red states than they contribute. This is all a result of every state has two senators and therefore, the smaller populated states have an imbalance of influence on fiscal deccisions. The House of Reps is equally imbalanced. Consider this, take WY, MT, Utah, ID, SD , ND, MS, AR, SC, etc, and look at how much $$ they get from the federals vs. what the large coastline states get back, even though they have the majority of the national population and contribute the majority of fedeeral tax. Some of the weatern states have populations equal to the Eagles or Phillies season attendances, yet their congress people's votes have same weight as those in heavily populated states.

Pea, you raise a great point about about CA. Currently they're supporting several other states but getting very little back in form of financials or services from the federal govt. The same can be said about PA, NJ, NY,etc.

I,know, I'm a PITA. But, these topics should be discussed and understood by people who don't vote or just vote because they like/dislike a candidate or don't vote because they're lazy but whine later about eveything. Voting is essential. VOTE VOTE VOTE, but first, research (Google) the improtant topics and then decide. How you vote is your business, but VOTE.

Now I'm late for an appt. and it's your fault Pea.
