Happy Birthday, Dennis !
31 years ago today, Dennis was born! About five hours after he was born and named, the Dad took his Big Brother (age4) to see him. "What's his name?" the Big Brother asked. "Dennis" said the Dad, do you like it? "No" said the Big Brother. So, the Big Brother and the Dad changed his name to Jason. Then we had to go tell Dennis' Mom.

January 3, 2009... in Oreland...& Gifting...

"White Elephant"...........A NOUN...

  • A rare, expensive possession that is a financial burden to maintain.
  • Something of dubious or limited value.
  • An article, ornament, or household utensil no longer wanted by its owner.
______________________________________________________________

When we gather at Michael & Mary's on Saturday, Jan 3rd, I suggest we do a "White Elephant"!

From the definition cited above (taken from the Internet Dictionary) Gift ideas should be self evident.

Look around your "work station", find something that has been there for years that you have not laid a Hand on...pick it up & wrap it as a Present ! Do this individually, not as a couple.

Then...bring it to the Gathering...where the White Elephant Rules will be Explained!

Not to Worry; I'm Alive..

Mild earthquake shakes Lancaster County

You were probably all worried about your Lanco relatives and wondering if we all survived THE EARTHQUAKE last night. Not to worry we lived through it. At a few minutes past midnight as my favorite grand daughter was visiting the bathroom (Name witheld to protect her vanity),as my "your turn to sit up with Ronan" son-in-law was headed back to bed at the top of his stairs in Lititz, as my son partyed and didn't hear a thing, as my wifey awoke to the clatter, as my other daughter and her hubby thought their house was collapsing, as my eldest grand daughter walked up the stairs and thought her Dad was stomping mad, as my faithful dogs slept through it all, as my eldest daughter and her normally "OMG what was that!" sleeping husband snored through it all, a 3.3 on the Richter scale quake struck just north and west of quaint little Lititz. Two Amish outhouses were destroyed and damages are estimated at over $8.00. Sam and Kelly how do you two live in California? Right now you're all wondering, I'm sure, "What can I do for them?" A Relief for Lanco is being organized. You're asked to send Sis' Irish Soda bread, lots of 'em, to Slim's house for distribution to the needy earthquake survivors. No FEMA trailers required, just lots and lots of soda bread. If you can't bake just plan on attending the "Help the Lanco Quake Victims" fundraiser on Jan 3rd in Oreland. Big cash donations are appreciated. Slim will be distributing that as well. Visa, Mastercard and Amex accepted also. Slim will handle that as well. Anybody know how you apply for Federal Disaster Relief? I have this urge to loot all of a sudden....

What's OLD?

Were you born 3 weeks after THE BEATLES released their White Album? Were you born 10 days before Apollo 8 saw the dark side of the Moon for the 1st time? Were you born 5 days after the very first PC (personal computer)was introduced? Imagine being born in the same year as the very first heart transplant was performed! The year Vince Lombardi retired, Richard Nixon was elected. Wheels were invented, just checkin to make sure you're still reading this. Imagine being as old as THE WHO album, Tommy. 40 years ago on December 14th what were you doing when you got the news that you were an uncle? Her name was Christine. According to Mother, "The cutest baby I ever saw!"

I had Jury Duty Today & they Kicked Me Out!

Went down to Filbert Street today, across from City Hall. Was there at 8:00AM. Went thru the "body search", the "Orientation", the "Questionnaire" and the "stares"... Got a Lunch Break and left the building..."Big Mistake"! Upon re-entry was Inspected, Wanded, Interrogated and re-Inspected...even though I had a Badge on! We finally get to the Courtroom...they ask us, "anyone have a Disability or a Conflict that would preclude you from sitting for an Armed Robbery Trial that could take 3 weeks"...I say nothing. They put us in a room and call us out one by one to be questioned by the Judge. I get called, am sitting 50' from the Judge (w/my Aids in) and tell him I cannot understand what he is saying! The Judge Jumps out of his seat and screams..."Get this Man out of my Courtroom!" Two Sheriffs show up and escort me out of the room... No one even said, "thanks for trying"... Civic Duty....

$50 billion...allegedly, that's a (B) billion...

Most people will not care about this story...$ 50 Billion....he looks like a pleasant Granpop, doesn't he?
How well do you know your (certified) Financial Advisor ?

Reflecting during this Holiday Season...did you...

  • Grow up with a Tattletale?
  • Know a Tattletale?
  • Tattletale?
  • Beat up a Tattletale?

Today they call them "whistleblowers" and they are given Cash Awards...

I don't think our Family had a Tattletale when we were young.

If there were such a thing as "whistle blower" I think we would have had six Tattletales...

...just for the Cash...

We Wish You a Happy Holidays

I don’t usually post, but I thought that this one was too much in Gerald Pea’s wheelhouse to pass up. I just returned from Justin and Amanda’s Holiday Concert. As we all know, you can’t call it a Christmas Concert because that may offend someone. In fact, when Justin’s class performed, they went so far as to change the words from “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” to:
We wish you a Happy Holidays We wish you a Happy Holidays We wish you a Happy Holidays And a Happy New Year!
While that was mildly annoying (mainly because it screws up the rhythm of the song), what really got me agitated was that later in the program not only did they sing a Dradel / Hanukkah song, they also sang “Feliz Navidad”! So, apparently you can celebrate Hanukkah, and apparently it IS ok to say, “Merry Christmas” … as long as you say it in Spanish. Just don’t say “Merry Christmas” in English or you’ll spend the afternoon in the principals office. Ay Chihuahua!

Best Christmas As A Kid. And I am sure Glad I do not have TWO Sisters...!!!

"Can I get some photo Exposure over here? " as said by brother Daniel..
What was your most memorable Christmas(es)as a kid? Mine was when the Cooker came home from the hospital after being in for a month. I was soooo scared that he was gonna die. First young person I ever knew who went into the hospital for that long. He was really sick and his joints were swollen and Mother and Dad were afraid too. I remember promising God that if he came home I'd never fight with him again. I actually stuck to it for a few days after he got home. The secondary memory from that Christmas was when I broke the neck right off his guitar Santa brought him. Note to self; you can't walk through a doorway while playing your big brother's guitar. Glad you made it. There would've been a helluva lot less laughter in my world if you hadn't. Merry 46th(?) or 61 Christmases later Cooker. TJ

Christmas Trees again...

I think we asked this Question last Christmas...

  • The Advantages of a Real Tree are?
  • The Advantages of an Artificial Tree are?
  • The Advantage of No Tree is?

Which team shows up?

Huge game this Sunday. A win and MAYBE the Eagles can sneak into the playoffs if all the planets are aligned. A loss and we'll have to listen to 8 months of WIP genius commentary about what's wrong with Andy Reid and the Eagles. Which team shows up, the Thanksgiving Eagles with McNabb running and Westbrook looking like Westbrook or the pass, pass, pass, punt Birds of previous weeks? More importantly, will you even be watching/listening or have you given up following overpaid, over analyzed millionaires playing a child's game while their billionaire owners sit scowling in their luxury boxes dressed up like they're going to a state funeral? Lil' Pea we know what you'll be doing.

And now the REST of the story..

Read in today's paper that Giants wide receiver Steve Smith was robbed Nov 24th at gunpoint outside the front door of his home in a gated community. Don't you love "gated communities"? Like crooks don't walk around the gate. I digress, the robber was the limo guy who drove him home; more on this guy on WB's Dumbest Crooks TV show, thus the seed of protection was sown in Plaxico's mind never to be erased. Buy me a Gloch, dude try to rob me...end of story. Dere ya go, innacent!

DUH!?! "They came in thru the Back-door!" even the pigeons knew

"It has also emerged that Rata Tata, the head of the Indian conglomerate that owns the Taj Mahal Palace had been warned of a possible attack on the hotel. He claimed, however, that no security arrangement could have prevented the highly trained and organised militants. "They did not go through the front entrance. All our security arrangements are in the front," he said." and this Moron, Rata-Tat-tat, Owns The Hotel? I just HAD to comment on this...
