SIXERS officially made the Playoffs today with a win over the Pistons! Way to go SIXERS!
I think they have a fun group of players to watch. I Especially like Andre Miller.
Before the NCAA Final Four starts in an hour we polled the "PEA BLOG NBA COMMITTEE" on their vote for the THREE Best NBA Players of All Time...This is the consensus:
- Wilt Chamberlain
- Oscar Robertson
- Magic Johnson
By the way, if the Constitution were signed six months later, the "SIXERS" would now be known as the "SEVENERS"...
Next Week...The Three Best NCAA Players of All Time!

better than Darrell Imhoff????
Pea, I have tried tried tried to disagree but I cannot with the consensus. Another two/three could be substituted but I agree w/ these three. I'd put Michael Jordan at 3A or 3+. He was also beneficiary of easier rules and more star oriented calls so I can't put him up there. If I had to pick THE BEST it would be Magic or Wilt. I don't remember 'O' being praised for his D. B/ Magic had to handle the pill he might get the nod over Wilton but give me one stud and I'd take the Dipper. He'd eat up that crybaby/overrated Shak, who has never reached his pot. Of course, that's to say I'd have to pass the most teamvaluable/greatest clutch winner of all time, Mr. Bill Russell. If u told me I had to take him I'd laugh all the way to the bank. I could talk all day about this stuff.
ps: don't ever forget Ron Sobieschek or Slater Martin. Also, is it not ironic that I saw Maurice Stokes in my 1st NBA game and later met him in Christ Hospital in Cincy when we played Xavier. He was still 6'7" and built like a brick wall. God Bless MO. He's buried on campus at St. Francis. We gotta do a road trip there and play the beautiful course and have a beer at Woodie's. I'm gonna buy one for Bro Michael Patrick cause neither of us ever bought one there since we never had a nickel!!!!
My apologies to you old folks. But, there has never been a "Better Player" than Michael Jordan. Hands down, no one comes close. On my team I would select #23 first and #6 second. It's called "refuse to lose"!!! Don't believe me? Ask Magic Johnson he has said the same thing many times. I qoute the Magic Man: "When Michael plays I set my VCR and watch it later. You will never see another one like him."
Gay Man: Magic was being humble. Nobody got more space and calls than MJ. I will say it's not easy to rate him 3a but I always hated the calls he got on off & def. Got away w/ murder...ref's were intimmidated by him and NBA wanted him isolated. $$$$$$
Jordan was a GREAT Player but he always went to his "Individualistic" Game and his situation allowed that. Remember when Kareem was out w/ a Migrain & the Lakers allowed Majic to Rock & Roll like Michael was allowed to do? Majic Rocked the 6ers for 46 points! The 6er's he Rocked included the Doctor, Moses, Cheeks & Bobby Jones...not to mention Mark Ivaronni...
Another point I will make...Oscar "averaged" a Triple Double thruout the whole Season! Today, if a player does it in One Game it is considered Stupendous!
Wilt was Wilt!
and #6 was the best DEFENDER ever! Not a GREAT BALL Player...and Wilt played vs HIM!!!!
Magic with a "G"...
Umm... Hello? Michael Jordan?
In many ways MJ s an absolute self centered jerk......and very rich, but still ajerk. Did anyone read what he said to his son right after the kid's team won the Illinois State Chamionship in the large school div.? The kid is all excited and jumping around (I'm paraphrasing MJ) and feeling really proud of himself and MJ says to his son...this is ok but now you gotta do it beyond h.s. See, MJ has never been known to share the spotlight w/ anyone at any time. Take the wind out of your son's moment and steal the fun and that raises MJ's record up above the moment. The guy wouldn't be my favorite teammate.
