Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs - Play Ball!
The Iron Pigs played the Phillies today in an exhibition game for the first game at the new Coca-Cola Park. A beautiful day, alot of excitement to be a part of local history, and a very cool ballpark.
I had the opportunity to see Dave Montgomery (President of the Philies) and Richard Dietz (also Phillies management). They were great and very gracious. I was able to introduce the Air Products CEO to them - I'm sooo connected. FYI, they coached me in high school football. No job offers though.
We have to schedule a group trip to Coca-Cola Park. I'll organize it.

The IRONPIGS Open Season this Sunday... Does anyone outside of the Lehigh Valley Care?
Very cool, brand new ballpark and just a quick trip up (or down if you're Patty & Kevin - they probably don't care though) the Northeast Extension and you can see a Lehigh Valley IRONPIGS Triple-A baseball game. Tickets approx. $9. Only about 15 minutes from Eddie and Susan's house. Exhibition game this Sunday vs those Phightin' Phils. Their mascot's name is "Ferrous" (as in IRON). "Pork Chop" was the first name they had until they were told it was a slur against the Hispanic community. What do you think? Can you suggest a better name for the mascot? Does anyone care?

In case you missed it on the Beck Blog
From Patty and Kevin,
"Happy Easter to everyone! The Becklets are 2 weeks old today and they are making great progress in the NICU.
Daniel was taken out of the incubator this week and is in an open crib. He is actually sharing a crib with his sister Kathryn. He has started to learn how to bottle feed. According to the doctors, it takes boys a little longer to learn new things but he is working really hard and we are sure he will master it shortly. He finished 22 cc's this morning which is the most he has finished so far. He had to be fed the rest of his feeding thru his tube but he was pooped by then so he deserved the break. He now weighs 5lb 2oz. He has been breathing well and has not had any episodes of apnea or bradycardia so they are going to start to wean him off of the caffeine that he is on to prevent these episodes.
Kathryn was also taken out of her incubator this week and is maintaining her temperature really well. She loves being in the same crib as Daniel and is usually staring at him while he sleeps. She tried her first bottle last night and did a great job. She is now up to 1 bottle per shift and can finish an entire feeding. We thought her doing so well would bring out Daniel's competitive side, but we're not sure he realizes yet that she is doing better than he is. Kathryn now weighs 4lb 2oz and has also not had any episodes of apnea or bradycardia. The doctors are going to wait a few more days before weaning her off of her caffeine just to be sure she is finished with the episodes. The doctor heard what he thinks is a heart murmur this morning but he said this is normal for preemies (2/3 of preemies develop one within a few weeks of birth) and he is not concerned at this point. It was very faint and he said they usually correct themselves within a few weeks.
Anna had her first bottle this morning and wants everyone to know that she may be the smallest but she can do anything she puts her mind to. She finished her entire feeding on her first try like a champ but zonked out right when she finished - that is hard work! Based on how well she did this morning, we are thinking she will progress quickly like her sister. As long as Anna continues to gain weight, they are going to put her in an open crib sometime this week and see if she can maintain her own temperature. She weighs 3lb 6.7oz.
The babies enjoyed their first Easter baskets full of preemie clothes and hats and CD's and wipes. We are going to try to take pictures of them in their baskets tonight. I'll post them tomorrow if we are successful.
Thanks for all of the cards, gifts and prayers and good wishes. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support that the babies are receiving! They can't wait to meet everyone! They are even more adorable in person than they are in pictures. At this point, all the doctors will say is that they will be coming home sometime in April. It could be early April or mid-April. As long as they continue to make progress, we are happy! We realize how lucky we are that they are doing so well for being 8 1/2 weeks early."

One "more" reason why I don't own a Mansion
"After being laid off from her job as an events planner at an upscale resort, Jo Ann Bauer struggled financially. She worked at several lower-paying jobs, relocated to a new city and even declared bankruptcy.
Then in December, she finally accepted her parents' invitation to move into their home — at age 52. "I'm back living in the bedroom that I grew up in," she said.

Who does Dolls ? oprah says all Girls do....
Tiger decides to make it more Fair....
"The disappointment in this room is palpable," said Woods. "I realize people want competition. And so I have decided to give it to them. Therefore for the remainder of 2008, I will play every shot with my eyes firmly shut. That includes all four majors. I will of course have to open them when I'm walking from shot to shot so I don't trip on a sprinkler or the guy who holds up the 'quiet' sign or something."

"It's not easy being Green."...Sent home by Principal on St Patty's Day !
Rice's position as 9th-Grade Mentor is not written into the budget for the school next year. Rice says he works with a mentoring program that helps students prepare for college. He says he has been with the progrma for three years, and has worked with the 9th graders since they were in 7th grade. "I want to keep my job," Rice said.Rice worked for more than a year teaching English in Charlotte. A staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve, Rice also travelled overseas to Kuwait to teach English. He is the assistant coach for the Hopkins Middle School Girls' Basketball Team. He has been working with the Army for more than 14 years."It's not easy being green," Rice says.

Hangin' with Cynthia Lennon (John's first wife...before Yoko)
Susan and I went to NYC last night to see a great group of musicians called, The Fab Faux. These guys are veteran music pros that get together to accurately play Beatle songs. The Bass player is from the David Letterman Band, one of the guitar players is from the Conan O'Brien Band. Thru Tracy King, we were able to get VIP seats at the venue, the Bowery Ballroom.
Sitting right next to Tracy was Cynthia Lennon, John's first wife, and May Pang (known mostly as John's companion during a "Lost Weekend" that lasted about 18 months in 1973 when John and Yoko split up).
Since it was the closest I will ever be to a Beatle, I politely introduced myself to Cynthia. It was a pretty cool moment for us. Cynthia was very nice and gracious. She is now 68 years old - same age John would be today.
Apology for too much information on this but, I thought you might want to hear the Fab Faux clip I was able to get with my little camera. It is a great show.
Blaze.

Mary from Kensington wants to know...
Checking my e-mail the other day I received a question from "Mary from Kensington" she asked, "I gotta ax ya sumtin, any of yiz know what Shackamaxon means? I just got it tattooed on my neck and I thought I oughta know."
Funny you should ask, while reading the Pulitzer award winning Port Richmond Star I came across an article on that very subject. According to the column it comes from the Lenni Lenape tribe and means either " at the place of eels" or "at the meeting place of kings". Since it's where the Lenape made the truce with William Penn and since you're permanently saddled with that ridiculous tattoo; I'd go with the "kings" thing. Thank goodness you didn't opt for Passyunk or Schuylkill, nobody knows what they mean.

Has anyone been to ANWAR , or planning a Vacation there ?
Point I am trying to make is that these "Dudley Do-Rights"...(Tree Huggers, Environmentalists,
PETA People, Global Warming Zealots and Re-cyclers) have an Agenda...and I am not in sync
with it...
Is this considered a Political Post?
