I Didn't Get the Memo

While watching an early morning TV show with Dr. Liam i wanted to enhance my status as "World's Smartest Poppy". Cartoon show about a dinosaur train, i didn't know they had trains but that's another story. The Junior Conductor was a big heavy 4 legged behemoth with a long neck and small head. I knew this beast as green and it could be found at Sinclair gas stations. Dino, I believe that was his name and he was a Brontosaurus. That's what Joey Schaeffer told me in first grade. That was the first time I even heard of dinosaurs or history at all for that matter. After all i was 6 how much history does a 6 year old have? Anyway, Joey is a pediatrician now so he musta been right. Not anymore. According to the full fledged Conductor on that train, that big grren dinosaur is now gold and is called a Bracasaurus Quadraped. What? When did they do that, right after Pluto got demoted to some kinda moon? I know, oops correct that, KNEW, one dinosaur's name and now 53 years later I'm wrong. Next time we watch Norm on Yankee Workshop.....

Deep fried sons-in-law

2 Hick Sons in law, South Jersey & rural Ohio, 1 new deep fryer, 2 turkeys, 1.5 hours til dinner for 28. Oyvay! Believe it or not the blind squirrel theory kicked in and we had 3 delicious birds. MO'H stuck with the oven tradition, just in case, and it was a triumphant feast. Deep fryers were juicy and the rub they used was great. Now they wanna do Twinkies and PB&J in the Deep Fryer. Oyvay!

This is a Long Post, but this Political Correctness stuff is getting Long in the Tooth

Said an NFL spokesman (via The Houston Chronicle):

"It was not Jerome Boger's intent to exchange a high-five with the player. It began with the referee making the proper administrative signal and resulted in the appearance of an inappropriate action.

"As Vince Young took a knee on the game's final play, Jerome Boger jogged in with his right arm in the air to signify the play was over. That is the proper administrative signal for the referee.

"As Young turned around, he saw Boger approaching the line of scrimmage with his arm raised. As Boger moved toward the line of scrimmage, he started to bring his arm down. However, before he lowered his arm, Young, moving towards the referee, raised his own arm and the two exchanged what appeared to be a quick high-five."

The NFL felt it necessary to issue the above Statement after Sunday's Game when Vince Young scored the Winning Touchdown & the REF appeared to be giving him a "high five"! The NFL does not want the public to believe that the REFS have Favorites! I could go on about the Vince Young story but I don't want to Bore you...The Statement I would make is "welcome back Vince!"

Meanwhile today, it was reported that 3 Navy Seals captured the guy that ordered the 2 Americans Hung from the Bridge in Iraq about 5 years ago and burned their bodies. Remember that? When they had people on camera Dancing on the Bridge? Well, the Navy Seals that caught the Guy responsible for that allegedly punched the Guy in the face while subduing him. The Navy Seals have now been Charged with Assault.

  • I think Vince Young, the Ref and the Navy Seals should all get High Fives!
  • I guess I am in the Minority..

What is mince meat?

There was nothing worse than opening our tiny fridge the day after Turkey Day and unraveling the aluminum foil looking for white meat to make a sandwhich and nothing but dark meat. Then you saw this pie covered up and thought you found the mother lode only to unravel it and find mince meat. Ugggggh

I was at BJ's today...

  • I saw Perdue turkeys, Fresh, not Frozen, @ .99cents per pound. I thought, that's a good deal. From BJ's I went to the Lafayette Hill Market. They had Organic Turkeys for $4.99 per pound! Why does an Organic Turkey cost $4.00 more per pound than a non-Organic Turkey? And what makes a Turkey Organic?
  • By the way...Bill Zee and Aaron (Uncle Buck) are planning on doing a "hot boiled turkey"
Make sure you take photos of that!

In my opinion (IMO)...And as strange as it may seem,

...and despite the embarssing "Male Bonding Moment" between Donavan & JayJay, The EAGLES will make it to the Super Bowl this year...
  • New Orleans kicked their butt and are running out of Gas
  • Oakland was a Fluke
  • The Cowboys and Tony are a Bunch of Phonies
  • The game tonite vs the Bears shows me a lot, the Eagles are Good!
  • Who else beat the Eagles?
they just have a few things to work on, and they will work on it this week...so says Andy...if there is a "break down" that's on Andy and the Coaches...(garble, garble)
  • Meanwhile, I think Jay Cutler is the Biggest WooWoo in the NFL !
just sayin' SUPER BOWL/ 2011!

The latest Blog Fashion statement...Fanny Paks are back in Vogue !

One time I was visiting Sam, he took me to a football game at the Coliseum, I wore my Fanny Pak. He said, you're not wearing that are you? I said, I certainly am...if a Fanny Pak is Stylish enough for Hulk Hogan a Fanny Pak is stylish enough for me !

WOULD YOU LIKE TO CRUISE ON THIS BIG BOAT?

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ON A CRUISE?

A Letter FROM Jeffrey Lurie and Joe Banner...

Here is a letter Jeffrey Lurie and Joe Banner sent to the guy who runs the Eagles Away Trips on which we travel ... Pretty cool! It would have been so much better if the Eagles won. But, oh well... the trip was great anyway...

How many is TOO many?

2 happily married adults. Their 7 children. 4 sons-in-law. 11 grandchildren. 1 Sister-in-law. 1 husband of sister-in-law. 1 girlfriend. 1 girlfriend's son. 2 huge deer on the lawn, another story another day. 28, not counting the deer, I think. 1 dishwasher. 1 stove, that's prone to spontaneous combustion on holidays, but that's another story. 1 huge pumpkin pie filling shortage. 1 meal once a year. 1 long dining room table. 1 semi-big kitchen table. 1 folding kids table. 14 chairs. 28 divided by 14 = Numerator, denominator, carry the 0. See what answer the guy next to me has. Hmmmmmmm looks like a 2.0 We probably need fewer butts or more chairs. Thanksgiving in Lancaster. How many you having?

Friday, November 27 is the Date for Jason's Turkey Bowl

It is the Eighth Annual! I asked if I could be the QB for his Team this year and he told me... NO! Anyway, all are invited to West Chester for the Bowl, followed by a Shuffleboard Tournament at Jakes Bar which I should Win if I could only find a half decent Shuffleboard Player as a Partner! Have I ever mentioned that I was the Shuffleboard Champion of Long Bien, Viet Nam in 1968?

The Chevy Bel Air vs the Chevy Monza Spyder...

Regarding our Former "Rides" We have displayed here, a "58 Chevy Bel Air"! (Is that Maureen in the "shotgun seat)? Believe me, Slim's "car consultant" was correct in stearing him away from the "Chevy Monza Spyder" & towards the Bel Air...the Bel Air was a Muscle Car and Slim was a Muscle kinda Guy! The Spyder was a cool car but it was a Girls' car, like that Volkswagon convertible thiga-ma-jig...they sell...Still to come... Photos of "The Brown(INDESTRUCTIBLE)) Ford Taurus"...

ALLELUHIA!!! Jason was going thru Old Family Photos...

...and Found this one of my '64 Chevy Impala! Bought for cash in 1969. I still think Timmy's '58 Chevy was Cooler looking...as I recall, it was Black

Personally, I would recommend that my wife NOT wear an outfit like this...

...especially to a Memorial Service !

Happy Veteran's Day Pea... and We Want a Story...

Dear Veteran Pea-F-C-G-Pea-M,
First of all, thanks Pea for serving our country and Happy Veterans Day. What a great country we have. I love hearing stories about your time in the Army. The time you got claustrophobia while in the bunker, the whizzing bullets flying by your head which you couldn’t hear and the time every one “Locked and Loaded”… But, there is one story which is non-army related, that I want to hear about in further detail…

Can you tell us the story about the time you “apparently” jumped off the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge? To me and my friend’s it is legend, but I want some proof! Were any McKendry Brothers around to witness this Dare Devil act? What was the Cooker doing at this time? Was The Stoneman waiting for a bus to take him up to New York? What year was this? What time of day did this occur? Did the Bridge Toll Keeper say anything to you? What side did you swim to after jumping?

Please give us some insight on this…

Stay Classy San Diego...

2009 Eagles Road Trip – We are heading to San Diego!

So, this post would have been a lot more exciting if the Eagles didn’t crap the bed this past Sunday and lose to the Cowboys. But, I am going to San Diego with a group of 1,500+ screaming Eagles fans. The plan is to leave Thursday after work, around 5:00. Fly direct to San Diego and arrive around 10:00 PM West coast time. Thursday night should be fun as we will be claiming our areas in and around Mission Beach. Friday is a chill day. Nothing planned except sitting by the pool/beach and throwing the football around. We may try some Pacific Ocean Deep Sea Fishing. We have to se how the weather is.

Saturday we start cranking it up. Sam and a few friends (Maybe Chris, haven’t talked to him yet) will be making the trip down to San Diego from Los Angeles. All day bar crawl followed by a pep rally party at the world famous Wave House Bar. Apparently they have an outdoor bar with wave machine. People get up there and try to surf. I’d like to see The Cooker and The Pea make it out on a kayak.

Sunday starts early. We have a 7:30 am bus picking us up and taking us to the Chargers Stadium. Our group has rented out a gated practice field and we have a 2,000+ person tailgate scheduled. They have a stage, live music, beer trucks, food, etc… McKendry Brothers, Where you at?????? After we do our tailgate, we will walk into Charger Stadium and take over the upper deck. The Chargers have sold our group the entire section in the upper end zone. Look for us and listen for the E-A-G-L-E-S chants…

So, we need a win! The past two years we have traveled to Green Bay and Chicago. All losses! We are due but this is a tough test for Donovan and the Eagles. They really need to get this win. If I don’t die or end up in jail this weekend, I will update the PEA Blog from San Diego.

Pea, your audience does not care about what goes on in DC...

...So, don't go there...BUT, If this Blog were Politically involved it would probably Post something about this Health Care stuff and Nancy's Crusade...

Bad Day...I need to try to Lighten Myself up...so...

I'll tell the Story of the First time I presented a Girl with Flowers...
  • Mother bought them for me, a Corsage
  • I was headed to the CD Sophomore Hop, 1962.
Barbara Stoller was my Date & she lived behind Sears on the Boulevard...I had no car so I walked to her House. Never told her I had no car & that we would be taking PTC to THE HOP...never entered my mind. Anyway, Mother put the Corsage in a brown paper bag and reminded me to make sure to take the Corsage out of the brown paper bag BEFORE I got to my Dates House...
  • I Forgot
  • Handed the brown paper bag to my Dates Mom and said...
  • "I'm Gerry! and I have the proper change for the Bus!"
Barbara Stoller was not impressed. This, of course was a few years before I became a Famous Member of the CD, '64 Basketball Team which was recently Inducted into the CD Hall of Fame...
  • A school, by the way, that will no longer Exist after this school year.
The last time I saw Barbara Stoller was around 1970 when, for some reason, I was in a Diner near The Boulevard & Cottman Ave and she was a "Biker Chick"!
  • by the way, she recognized Me
  • No way I would have recognized her...
She was Not wearing a Corsage!

I Think Only Gerry Could Do This...

This will confuse your mind and you will keep trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your foot, but, you can't. It is pre-programmed in your brain! 1. While sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles. 2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction. Makes me wanna say "hmmmm".

POLITICS!!! "hand me my check book..." and The Fat Guy is Singing !!!

This Corzine guy (who called his opponent Fat) spent $30 million of his own money in an attempt to be re-elected as Gov of N.J. and he came in Second. Why would someone do that? I have $1127.00 in my checking account and I would not put up the $27.00 to be the Head of that State! Egomaniacal Rich People!!!! $30 million?!?...by the way, the Fat Guy is Chris Christie...Meanwhile, the Mayor of NYCity supposedly spent $100 million to get re-elected for the 3rd time! OK, gotta ask...spend $30 mil/ $100 mil to get a job that pays $200,000 a year??? I don't get it...

To Pause or not to Pause, that is the Question...

Do you have the capability to Pause a Show, go to the "Catroom", change clothes, save the World and return to the Show you were watching prior to the Cat Signal going off? In other words, do you have TIVO or a Facsimile thereof? or do you still watch TV thru Basic Cable, which used to be referred to as "Rabbit Ears"? Cat Woman Pauses...

When was the last time you Jumped Rope?

What is that Necklace thing that we see a lot Pitchers wearing now-a-days?

Some kind of holistic thing? If it works for Clifford they should all be wearing them! And maybe Eddie and Susan can get their friend David to send us a Dozen for a Dollar! It is 3-2 and we are headed back to The Bronx! (by the way, I have 10 tickets to the Game in NY plus Amtrak tickets, just send me a check for $125.00 per person and I will make sure you have the Tickets by Wednesday)

NFL FOOTBALL...it absolutely Slays me...

How the Jets and the Giants are allowed to get away with calling themselves New York Teams! Is Y.A. Title still alive? How about Frank Gifford or Alie Sherman? They should come out and call this The Fraud that it is! Even Joe Willie, from the Jets, he played at Shea Stadium, am I right?
  • These Teams play in Friggin New Jersey and call themselves New York!
"Start spreading the News...I'm leaving today...
  • The Politicians in New Jersey should insist that these Teams be cited as being from NJ if they want to Play in New Jersey...
...that's How this Reporter sees it........
